Amazon.in seller fee calculator
This free Amazon seller fee calculator for India applies Amazon.in's published fee tables to your product and tells you what you keep. Enter the price, your cost, the referral rate for your sub-category and the fulfilment channel, and it returns referral fee, closing fee, weight handling, pick and pack, 18% GST, payout, profit and margin. It updates as you type and sends nothing to a server. The rules behind each line are covered in our Amazon seller fees India guide; this page covers the tool and its defaults, checked against sell.amazon.in in September 2026.
Which Amazon fees does the calculator apply?
Amazon's own profit formula is selling price minus referral fee, closing fee, weight handling fee, other fees and product cost. The calculator follows it line by line:
- Referral fee. Amazon's commission, set per sub-category and often per price band. Many categories are 0% up to Rs 1,000 and jump above it: home decor 17%, men's T-shirts 23%, makeup 7%, headphones 18%, while mobiles are 5% flat and laptops 6% flat at every price. The list runs to several hundred sub-categories, so the tool asks you to type the rate rather than guess it. The default of 6.5% is the pet food rate used in the worked example.
- Closing fee. A flat charge by price band and channel, using the rates in force since 7 September 2026: FBA Rs 27, 23, 30 and 55 across the four bands (up to Rs 300, Rs 301 to 500, Rs 501 to 1,000, above Rs 1,000); Easy Ship Rs 2, 23, 48 and 79; Self Ship Rs 20, 26, 51 and 101. The band is judged on price including any shipping you charge the customer. A few FBA categories get lower closing fees in the bottom two bands, and select categories pay Rs 75 above Rs 1,000; check your category if it is one of them.
- Weight handling. Amazon's shipping charge on FBA and Easy Ship, by slab at the Standard STEP level effective 16 March 2026: FBA regional Rs 39, 54 and 78 for the first 500 g, 500 g to 1 kg and 1 kg to 2 kg, then Rs 24 per extra kg; FBA national Rs 65, 85, 122 and Rs 34; Easy Ship Rs 55, 75, 112 and Rs 34. Self Ship pays no weight handling, so the tool asks for your own courier cost instead. Weight is actual or volumetric (length x breadth x height in cm divided by 5,000), whichever is higher.
- Pick and pack. Rs 17 per unit on FBA up to 1 kg, plus Rs 5 per extra kg up to 5 kg. Not charged on Easy Ship or Self Ship.
- GST. Amazon states it applies 18% GST to all fees. Registered sellers can claim it back as input credit.
FBA storage, removals, ads and returns are outside the tool. Storage is small per unit for fast-moving stock and large for slow stock, so add it to your cost if a SKU sits for months.
How do you use the Amazon fee calculator?
- Enter the price the customer pays including any shipping charge you add; Amazon uses this total to pick the closing fee band.
- Enter your landed cost per unit including packaging.
- Look up your sub-category on Amazon's fees page and type the referral rate that applies at your price.
- Choose FBA, Easy Ship or Self Ship. For FBA, choose regional or national delivery; national is the safe assumption if you use one fulfilment centre.
- Enter packed weight in kilograms. Use volumetric weight if the box is bulky.
- For Self Ship, enter what your courier charges per order.
- Read payout, profit and margin, then switch channels to compare.
Worked example: a Rs 999 product on FBA, Easy Ship and Self Ship
Assumptions: pet food at 6.5% referral, price Rs 999 with free shipping, packed weight 800 g, FBA regional, cost Rs 450, Self Ship courier Rs 60.
| Line | FBA | Easy Ship | Self Ship |
|---|---|---|---|
| Referral fee (6.5%) | Rs 64.94 | Rs 64.94 | Rs 64.94 |
| Closing fee (Rs 501 to 1,000) | Rs 30.00 | Rs 48.00 | Rs 51.00 |
| Weight handling (500 g to 1 kg) | Rs 54.00 | Rs 75.00 | Rs 0 |
| Pick and pack | Rs 17.00 | Rs 0 | Rs 0 |
| GST at 18% | Rs 29.87 | Rs 33.83 | Rs 20.87 |
| Total Amazon fees | Rs 195.81 | Rs 221.77 | Rs 136.81 |
| Payout | Rs 803.19 | Rs 777.23 | Rs 862.19 |
| Profit after cost (and Rs 60 courier on Self Ship) | Rs 353.19 | Rs 327.23 | Rs 352.19 |
FBA and Self Ship come out almost level here, but FBA carries the Prime badge and usually converts better, which the calculator cannot show. In a 0% referral category the same order costs about Rs 119 in fees on FBA. Above Rs 1,000 the referral rate jumps in most categories and the closing fee rises to Rs 55, which is why a Rs 999 price point is so common on Amazon.in.
Choosing the channel, price band and STEP level that leaves the most margin on each ASIN is part of our Amazon account management service.
How does this compare with Amazon's own calculator?
Amazon's Revenue Calculator needs a Seller Central login and searches by ASIN, which makes it precise for an existing listing but slow for planning a range. This tool uses the same published tables and runs instantly for any price, weight and channel. Amazon's caveat applies to both: results are estimates, and your settlement report is the final word. Rates for higher STEP levels carry small waivers that the tool does not model.
FAQ
Which referral fee should I enter? The rate on sell.amazon.in for your exact sub-category at your price. Many categories are 0% up to Rs 1,000 and 7% to 23% above; mobiles are 5% and laptops 6% at all prices.
Are the closing fees current? Yes. They include the increase Amazon applied from 7 September 2026 of Rs 1 up to Rs 500 and Rs 3 above Rs 500.
Why does Self Ship show no weight handling? Amazon charges no shipping fee when you deliver yourself. Enter your courier's rate in the Self Ship field so profit is comparable.
Is GST included? Yes, 18% on all Amazon fees, as Amazon states on its fee page. GST-registered sellers claim it back as input credit.
Does the tool include FBA storage? No. Monthly storage depends on cubic feet and days in stock. Add an estimate to your cost price for slow-moving SKUs.
