Easy Ship is the middle path between doing everything yourself and handing stock to Amazon. Your inventory stays at your home, shop or godown. When an order arrives, you pack it to Amazon's guidelines, print the label and schedule a pickup; an Amazon Logistics delivery associate collects the parcel and Amazon delivers it, tracks it and collects cash on delivery. Amazon says the network reaches more than 99% of India's serviceable pin codes as of September 2026. It is an India-specific programme and the default choice for most new sellers because it needs no inbound shipment and no minimum stock.
How Easy Ship works and what it costs
Orders appear in Seller Central and by SMS and email. You confirm the order, print the shipping label and invoice, pack the item, and request pickup. Bulk sellers can schedule up to 500 orders at once with the Schedule Pickup template. The associate scans the parcel at your door, and from that point Amazon owns delivery, customer tracking and payment collection. Returns come back to your address through the same network.
Fees on top of the category referral fee, per Amazon's fees-and-pricing page as of September 2026:
- Closing fee: ₹2 to ₹23 per unit depending on price band, lower than FBA's ₹14 to ₹75; up ₹1 (items up to ₹500) or ₹3 (above ₹500) since 7 September 2026.
- Weight handling fee: ₹55 for the first 500 g, then ₹34 for each further 500 g. A 3.5 kg parcel is ₹180.
- Pickup: there is no separate pickup charge on the current fee page; Amazon dropped Easy Ship fees by over 20% on items under ₹300 in March 2026.
Worked example: a ₹599 cotton kurta weighing 350 g in a category with a 15% referral fee. Referral ₹90; closing fee roughly ₹15 for that price band; weight handling ₹55. Total ≈ ₹160 before GST, against about ₹230 for the same item through FBA once pick and pack and the higher closing fee are added. The gap narrows for heavy items, where FBA's distance-based weight rates can be cheaper for local deliveries.
Why Easy Ship matters for sellers
Easy Ship keeps stock in your hands, so the same units can serve Flipkart, Meesho and your own website. It avoids FBA storage fees, inbound freight and the risk of returns being graded unsellable in a fulfilment centre. It is usually the right model for fashion and other high-return categories, for bulky goods, for made-to-order products and for sellers testing a new line. The costs are operational: someone has to pack every day, the pickup window is fixed, and late handovers count against your late shipment rate. Easy Ship listings do not automatically get the Prime badge; Amazon offers Prime eligibility on Easy Ship only to sellers who meet specific performance criteria, and the requirements change, so check the current terms in Seller Central rather than assuming.
How to run Easy Ship well
- Confirm and pack before the cut-off every day, including festive weeks. Missed pickups become late shipments and cancellations, both of which hurt account health.
- Weigh and measure honestly. Amazon re-weighs parcels; a listing marked 400 g that ships at 700 g gets billed at the higher slab and can trigger a dispute.
- Use the bulk pickup template once you pass 20 orders a day; label printing in sequence saves the most time.
- Pack to survive transit. Damage claims on Easy Ship land on you, not Amazon, and feed straight into ODR.
- Move hero SKUs to FBA once they sell steadily; the Prime badge lifts conversion enough to pay for the higher fees.
Blooprint sets up Easy Ship operations and the FBA-or-Easy-Ship split by SKU under Amazon account management. The Amazon seller fees guide compares the two fee tables line by line.
