Meesho is the only large Indian marketplace that charges no commission on any category, and it has done so since 2021. As of September 2026 registration, listing and cataloguing are also free. What Meesho does charge is logistics: a shipping fee on every delivered order and a reverse shipping fee on customer returns, plus GST, plus penalties for quality and dispatch failures. This guide sets out each line, the ranges reported by 2026 seller guides, the payout cycle, and a worked example for a Rs 349 kurti. If you are still deciding whether Meesho suits your products, read is selling on Meesho profitable first; this article is about the deductions once you are live.

Meesho Seller Fees Explained (2026): 0% Commission, Shipping, Returns, GST and Penalties
By Blooprint team · Published 24 September 2026 · 9 min read
Key takeaways
- Meesho charges 0% commission and no registration, listing or subscription fee; its supplier site is closed to crawlers, so the rupee figures here are from 2026 seller guides.
- The real cost is logistics: a forward shipping fee on every delivered order, quoted at about Rs 27 to Rs 120 by weight and zone, and a reverse fee on customer returns quoted anywhere from Rs 30 to Rs 165.
- RTO (undelivered) orders are not charged reverse shipping; 18% GST applies to every fee, and non-GST sellers on an Enrolment ID cannot claim it back.
- Payment lands 7 days after delivery; the worked Rs 349 kurti example nets about Rs 276 on a delivered order and far less once a 20% return rate is modelled.

What does Meesho charge instead of commission?
Meesho's model is straightforward: no commission, no fixed fee on the official pricing page, and a shipping charge on each order that Meesho's logistics partners deliver. Meesho sets the customer price from your "supplier price" and its own margin, so the amount you receive is your supplier price minus the shipping fee, minus GST on that fee, minus any penalties or return charges. Seller guides list the deductions as:
- Forward shipping fee on every delivered order, by weight slab and zone.
- Reverse shipping fee when a customer returns an order after delivery.
- GST at 18% on the shipping and other service charges.
- Penalties for quality failures, late dispatch and seller cancellations, where they apply.
- TCS and TDS for GST-registered sellers: 0.5% under GST and 0.1% under section 194-O, both recoverable.
Some 2026 guides also list a "platform fee" of Rs 25 to Rs 30 per order. Others, including the guides that quote Meesho's supplier page most closely, say registration, listing and RTO "cost you nothing" and mention no such fee. We could not confirm it. If it exists on your account it will show as a separate line in the Supplier Panel payment breakdown; check there before you price.
How much is Meesho's shipping fee?
Meesho does not publish a public shipping table. The ranges below are seller-reported and compiled by third parties:
| Weight slab | Local | Regional or zonal | National | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 500 g | Rs 27 to Rs 45 | Rs 45 to Rs 70 | Rs 55 to Rs 90 | Shiprocket (EcomArray data), SW Cybernetics |
| 500 g to 1 kg | Rs 35 to Rs 70 | Rs 60 to Rs 95 | Rs 80 to Rs 120 | Same |
| 1 kg to 2 kg | Rs 45 to Rs 95 | Rs 80 to Rs 135 | Rs 100 to Rs 170 | Same |
| Any slab | Not published | Meesho (official) | ||
Ecom Vanshika's guide uses "around Rs 65" as the typical charge on a sub-500 g fashion parcel, which sits in the middle of the regional band and is a fair planning number for a seller shipping across India. Two details matter more than the exact rupee. First, Meesho charges on the higher of dead weight and volumetric weight, so a light but bulky parcel pays the heavier slab; guides warn of "weight discrepancy" charges when the declared weight is under the measured one. Second, the shipping fee is deducted on delivered orders only; undelivered orders are handled differently, as the next section explains.
What do returns and RTOs cost on Meesho?
Meesho distinguishes two cases, and the difference is large.
- RTO (return to origin). The courier could not deliver, typically because the customer refused a COD parcel or was unreachable, and the parcel comes back. Seller guides agree that Meesho does not charge reverse shipping on RTOs: "RTO is free". You lose the packaging and the time, not a fee.
- Customer return. The order was delivered and the customer sent it back. Here a reverse shipping fee is charged, and the sources disagree on how much. SW Cybernetics quotes Rs 30 to Rs 80. Ecom Vanshika quotes Rs 153 to Rs 165 for parcels up to 500 g, rising to about Rs 340 at 2 to 2.5 kg, and says the figure depends on the courier assigned. Shiprocket says only that reverse shipping "can sometimes cost equal to or more than forward shipping".
The higher figures are the more recent and the more specific, and they match what sellers post in Meesho forums, so plan on the Rs 150-plus range for fashion until your own panel shows otherwise. Meesho has also tightened return handling over the years, including limiting free returns for customers on some categories, which sellers reported in 2023 as a mixed blessing: fewer returns, but more disputes.
What penalties does Meesho charge?
Meesho's penalty rules are not on a public page. The 2026 guides describe:
- Quality penalty. If a returned product fails Meesho's quality check, or a customer complaint is upheld, Meesho can refund the buyer and charge the seller; one guide puts this at 10% to 15% of order value plus logistics.
- Late dispatch. SW Cybernetics quotes Rs 50 per order not dispatched within the 24 to 48 hour SLA.
- Seller cancellation. The same guide quotes Rs 25 per seller-initiated cancellation.
- Weight discrepancy. Additional shipping charged when measured weight exceeds declared weight.
Treat these as indicative. What is certain is that repeated quality returns and cancellations lower your catalogue's visibility in Meesho's ranking, which costs more than the rupee penalty.
How does GST work for Meesho sellers?
Meesho adds 18% GST to its shipping and service charges. A GST-registered seller claims this back as input tax credit. Since October 2023 Meesho has also onboarded sellers without GST registration, using an Enrolment ID for intra-state sales of exempt or small-turnover goods; Economic Times reported 25,000 such sellers within two months. For them the 18% is a real cost, because there is no return to claim it on. Meesho, as an e-commerce operator, also collects TCS at 0.5% and deducts TDS at 0.1% from registered sellers; both appear as credits in your GST and income tax portals.
When does Meesho pay suppliers?
Seven days after delivery, including for cash-on-delivery orders. This is one of the few points every source agrees on and matches Meesho's own long-standing description of its payment cycle. The clock starts at delivery, not dispatch, and returns are adjusted in later cycles, so a seller with high returns sees the headline payout and then a string of deductions over the following weeks.
Worked example: a Rs 349 kurti
Assumptions, clearly labelled:
- Supplier price Rs 349 (the amount Meesho owes you before deductions). Meesho adds its own margin to set the customer price.
- Weight 350 g, delivered regionally; shipping assumed at Rs 60, within the reported band.
- GST-registered seller; no platform fee assumed (unconfirmed, see above).
- Delivered on time, no penalty.
| Line | Amount | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | Rs 0.00 | 0% (official) |
| Forward shipping | Rs 60.00 | Assumed, sub-500 g regional |
| GST on shipping | Rs 10.80 | 18% of Rs 60 |
| TCS and TDS | Rs 2.09 | 0.6% of Rs 349, recoverable |
| Total deductions | Rs 72.89 | About 21% of supplier price |
| Payout | Rs 276.11 | Before product cost and packaging |
Now model returns, because on Meesho they decide the outcome. Assume product cost Rs 180, packaging Rs 10, and a 20% customer return rate with a Rs 155 reverse fee (plus 18% GST) on each return. Over ten orders: eight deliver and net Rs 276.11 each, or Rs 2,208.88; two return, each costing the forward Rs 70.80 and the reverse Rs 182.90, or Rs 507.40 in total, with the stock coming back. Subtract product cost on the eight sold (Rs 1,440) and packaging on all ten (Rs 100), and the ten-order profit is Rs 161.48, about Rs 16 an order, against Rs 86 an order if nothing came back. Cut the return rate to 10% and the profit per order roughly triples. On Meesho, return rate is the margin lever; commission is not.
How does Meesho compare with Shopsy and Flipkart?
Shopsy, Flipkart's value marketplace, also charges 0% commission on everything, and Flipkart itself charges none under Rs 1,000 or on any fashion item. The difference is in the flat charges. Flipkart and Shopsy add a tier-based fixed fee (Bronze sellers pay a Rs 10 surcharge), a collection fee on COD, and Rs 30 to Rs 90 dispatch penalties since August 2026, but make local and zonal shipping free under 500 g. Meesho charges shipping on every delivered order but has no tier surcharge and no collection fee, and does not charge reverse shipping on RTOs. For a new seller shipping light fashion locally, Shopsy is usually a few rupees cheaper per order; for national COD orders the two are close. Our Shopsy fees guide and Flipkart fees guide cover the other side. Most value-fashion sellers we work with run both and compare return rates by channel, which vary more than the fees do.
How do you keep Meesho deductions down?
- Declare accurate weights and use the smallest packaging that protects the product, so you stay in the lowest slab and avoid discrepancy charges.
- Fix the listing before you fix the price: accurate size charts, real fabric photos and honest colour names are the cheapest way to cut returns. Blooprint's catalogue and listing optimisation service exists for exactly this.
- Dispatch within the SLA every time; late dispatch and cancellation penalties are flat and hurt most on cheap orders.
- Reconcile every 7-day payout against orders, returns and penalties, and file TCS and TDS credits monthly.
- Review return reasons monthly and delist SKUs whose return rate stays above 25%.
