Shopsy Seller Fees Explained (2026): 0% Commission, Fixed Fee, Shipping, Returns and Penalties

By Blooprint team ยท Published 24 September 2026 ยท 8 min read

Key takeaways

  • Shopsy is Flipkart's value marketplace and runs on your existing Flipkart seller account; there is no separate registration, listing or subscription fee.
  • Commission is 0% on every product at every price on Shopsy since November 2025, confirmed by Flipkart's own Shopsy page and press coverage.
  • Zero commission is not zero fees: the fixed fee by seller tier, shipping above 500 g or national, the COD collection fee, return shipping, GST and the August 2026 dispatch penalties all still apply.
  • The worked Rs 249 kurta example nets about Rs 231 on a prepaid local order; one customer return can wipe out the margin on several sales.

Shopsy is Flipkart's value-focused marketplace, aimed at buyers in smaller towns who want low prices and are comfortable with cash on delivery. As of September 2026 the headline for sellers is simple: Flipkart's Shopsy page says commission is zero "on all verticals", at any price point. What the headline hides is that every other Flipkart fee still applies, because Shopsy runs inside your Flipkart seller account and uses the same rate card. This guide walks through what you actually pay, what changed in 2025 and 2026, and a worked example for a Rs 249 product. It builds on our Flipkart seller fees guide, which covers the shared fee structure in more depth.

Flipkart publishes the structure of its fees but not the rupee amounts; those sit in the rate card in your seller dashboard and vary by tier, category and price band. Every rupee figure below that is not quoted from Flipkart is labelled as an assumption or a press estimate.

How does Shopsy relate to your Flipkart seller account?

There is no separate Shopsy seller portal. You register once at Flipkart Seller Hub, and your listings can be made available on Shopsy from the same dashboard. Orders from Shopsy buyers flow into the same order list, are picked up by the same logistics network, and settle into the same bank account under the same tier rules. Flipkart's Shopsy page pitches it as a way to reach "the next 200 million" shoppers with no extra effort. In practice, sellers treat Shopsy as an extra demand channel for their lower-priced SKUs rather than a separate business.

That shared account is why the fees look the way they do. Shopsy has one distinct rule, zero commission on everything, and inherits everything else from Flipkart: the fixed fee, shipping, the collection fee, return charges, GST and the penalty schedule.

Is Shopsy really 0% commission?

Yes, and this is official. Flipkart's Shopsy seller page lists "0% commission" across all verticals. The policy was set out on 14 November 2025, when Flipkart announced a zero-commission rate card for products under Rs 1,000 on the main marketplace and for all products, at every price, on Shopsy. Indian Retailer quoted Flipkart's Sakait Chaudhary saying the model "will translate into more affordable choices, especially in essential and value-led categories", and Flipkart estimated sellers could see "up to a 30% reduction in overall cost of doing business". In July 2026 Flipkart also removed the Rs 1,000 cap for fashion on the main marketplace.

So for a seller with both channels live, the commission picture in September 2026 is:

Where the order comes fromCommission
Shopsy, any category, any price0%
Flipkart, any category, under Rs 1,0000%
Flipkart, fashion, any price0%
Flipkart, non-fashion, Rs 1,000 and aboveCategory rate in your dashboard (press range 3% to 25%)

Because most Shopsy orders are for items well under Rs 1,000, the difference between the two channels on commission is small in practice. Search-engine snippets from seller blogs describe typical Shopsy products as priced between Rs 150 and Rs 250; Flipkart does not publish an average order value.

What fees still apply on a Shopsy order?

Flipkart's seller blog lists five fee components on every order, and four of them still apply on Shopsy.

  • Fixed fee. A flat charge per item, set by price band, fulfilment type and your Darwin seller tier. Flipkart publishes only the tier adjustment: Platinum pays the base rate minus Rs 15 (capped at Rs 30), Gold and Silver pay the base rate, Bronze pays the base rate plus Rs 10. The base rate itself is not published. Every new seller starts at Bronze.
  • Shipping fee. Charged by weight slab and by whether the delivery is local, zonal or national. Since November 2025, local and zonal shipping is free on most products under 500 g. National shipments and heavier parcels are charged; the rupee table is not public.
  • Collection fee. A percentage of order value on cash-on-delivery orders only. Flipkart says it "varies based on the product's price range"; an industry estimate is around 2%. Shopsy's buyer base uses COD heavily, so this fee matters more here than on Flipkart.
  • Return shipping. If a customer returns the item, reverse logistics is charged to you. Flipkart said in November 2025 it had "reduced return fees" for sub-Rs 1,000 products without giving figures.
  • GST. 18% on all of the above, claimable as input credit if you are GST-registered.

Two statutory deductions also appear: TCS under GST at 0.5% of net sales and TDS under section 194-O at 0.1% of gross sales. Both are credits, not costs.

What penalties apply on Shopsy orders?

The same schedule as Flipkart, because it is the same account. From 23 August 2026 Flipkart charges Rs 30 per shipment not ready by the Dispatch By Date, Rs 60 per seller cancellation or auto-cancellation after three missed deadlines, and Rs 90 when an order is both late and cancelled. New sellers are exempt for their first three months. On a Rs 249 Shopsy order, a single Rs 60 cancellation penalty is more than a quarter of the selling price, which is why dispatch discipline matters more on low-ticket channels than anywhere else. Our Flipkart account health guide covers the metrics behind the tiers and penalties.

Worked example: a Rs 249 kurta on Shopsy

Assumptions, clearly labelled:

  • Selling price Rs 249, women's ethnic wear.
  • Weight 300 g, delivered locally, seller-fulfilled (non-FBF).
  • Seller is Bronze tier. The base fixed fee for this price band is not public; we assume Rs 5, making Rs 15 after the Bronze Rs 10 surcharge, for illustration only.
  • Prepaid order, delivered on time, not returned.
  • GST at 18% on fees; TCS and TDS at 0.6% of the sale.

The same order, cash on delivery and shipped nationally

Now assume the buyer is in another zone, pays COD, and the collection fee is 2% (an industry estimate, not Flipkart's figure). Shipping is no longer free; assume Rs 45 for a sub-500 g national parcel, again an assumption. Deductions become: fixed fee Rs 15, shipping Rs 45, collection fee Rs 4.98, GST Rs 11.70, TCS and TDS Rs 1.49, total Rs 78.17, or 31% of the selling price. The payout is Rs 170.83. Same product, same 0% commission, four times the fee load. That is the real Shopsy lesson: the fees that remain are flat or near-flat, so they bite hardest on the cheapest orders.

What a return does

If the buyer returns the kurta, you lose the forward shipping already paid, pay reverse shipping (unpublished; assume it mirrors forward), and get back a garment that may not be resellable. On a Rs 249 item with perhaps Rs 60 of margin after product cost, one return can erase the margin on three or four delivered orders. Value fashion carries the highest return rates on every Indian marketplace, so model returns at 20% or more before you commit stock to Shopsy.

How do Shopsy fees compare with Meesho?

Sellers in value fashion and home usually weigh Shopsy against Meesho, which has run a 0% commission model since 2021. The structures are close but not identical. Meesho charges a shipping fee on every delivered order regardless of weight or distance, quoted by third-party guides at roughly Rs 27 to Rs 120 by slab, and a reverse shipping fee on customer returns. Shopsy, through Flipkart, makes local and zonal shipping free under 500 g but adds the tier-based fixed fee and the COD collection fee, and since August 2026 has flat dispatch penalties. On a light, prepaid, local order Shopsy is usually cheaper; on a national COD order the two are closer, and Meesho's lack of a tier surcharge helps new sellers. Our Meesho profitability guide runs the Meesho side of that comparison. Most sellers we work with list the same SKUs on both and let the order data decide.

Is Shopsy worth listing on?

For sellers already on Flipkart with SKUs under Rs 500, the extra demand costs nothing to switch on and carries no commission, so the answer is usually yes, with three conditions. Keep parcels under 500 g so local and zonal shipping stays free. Push prepaid where you can, since the collection fee and RTO risk sit on COD. And keep dispatch compliance clean, because a Rs 30 to Rs 90 penalty is a large share of a Rs 249 order. If you want your tier moved up so the Bronze surcharge disappears, that is a 90-day exercise in volume, cancellation rate and dispatch compliance, which is exactly what Blooprint's Flipkart account management service is built around.

FAQ

Does Shopsy charge commission? No. Flipkart's Shopsy page states 0% commission on all verticals at any price, in force since 14 November 2025.

Do I need a separate account to sell on Shopsy? No. Shopsy runs on your Flipkart seller account. You enable listings for Shopsy from the same dashboard and settle into the same bank account.

What fees do I pay on a Shopsy order? The fixed fee by tier and price band, shipping for parcels over 500 g or national deliveries, the collection fee on COD orders, return shipping if the customer returns, and 18% GST on all of these. The rupee amounts are in your rate card, not on public pages.

Are the August 2026 penalties charged on Shopsy orders? Yes. The Rs 30, Rs 60 and Rs 90 dispatch and cancellation charges apply to the account, so they apply to Shopsy orders too. New sellers get a three-month exemption.

When does Shopsy pay? On the Flipkart schedule for your tier, which Flipkart describes as "as fast as 7 days" from pickup and tier dependent. No per-tier day count is published.

Is Shopsy good for fashion? Fashion is the largest category on Shopsy and carries 0% commission on both Shopsy and Flipkart. The risk is returns, which are high for value fashion and are charged to the seller.

Getting your Shopsy economics right

Shopsy's zero commission is real, but the fees that remain are flat charges that weigh heaviest on the cheap orders Shopsy is built for. The numbers sit in your Flipkart rate card and change with tier and price band. If you want an ex-Flipkart team to read that rate card, model every SKU at prepaid and COD, local and national, and keep your tier and dispatch metrics where the surcharges and penalties stop, see our Flipkart account management service.
