Flipkart account health is the set of performance numbers Flipkart uses to decide how much visibility, support and protection your seller account gets. The two numbers that matter most are seller cancellation rate and Ready to Dispatch(RTD) breach rate, followed by product ratings and returns. Good numbers move you up the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers. Bad numbers cost you visibility, attract per-shipment penalties, get listings blocked and, in the worst case, get the account deactivated. This guide explains what is measured, what Flipkart has published, what it has not, and what to do each week to stay safe.
What Flipkart measures
Flipkart's own seller tier page names these metrics: seller cancellation rate, RTD breach rate, product ratings against a vertical benchmark, sales in revenue or units, and a growth index.
In plain terms:
- Seller cancellation rate: orders you cancelled divided by eligible confirmed orders.
- RTD breach rate: shipments you did not mark Ready to Dispatch on or before the Dispatch By Date.
- Pick-up breach: shipment not handed to the courier within three attempts.
- Product rating: the star rating customers leave, judged against a benchmark for your category.
- Customer return rate: returned units divided by delivered units, benchmarked by category.
- Regional utilisation: share of orders that are local or zonal.
The formula behind the 0 to 5 star seller rating shown on listings is not published. A numeric "listing quality score" is also not published on any public Flipkart page we found. Treat any exact figure you see for these as a guess.
The seller tier system
Flipkart runs four tiers. New sellers start in Bronze automatically. Performance is measured over a rolling 90 days.
| Tier | Sales in 90 days | Seller cancellation | RTD breaches | Other |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | none | none | none | default for new sellers |
| Silver | ₹30 lakh or 4,000 units | below 0.50% | below 1.40% | product rating benchmark |
| Gold | ₹50 lakh or 6,000 units | below 0.15% | under 1% | growth index 2 or higher, high product ratings |
| Platinum | "consistently surpass" Gold | not published | not published | not published |
All Silver and Gold figures above are quoted from Flipkart's page. Flipkart says Silver and Gold sellers get "improved visibility and support", and Platinum gets "premium visibility, personalised account management, and top-tier support". Third-party sources add a regional utilisation target of 30% for Gold and a "Return Unacceptable" rate of at least 20%. Older reports mention shipping fee discounts and faster payment cycles for Gold and Silver; these are not on Flipkart's current page, so confirm in your Seller Hub before relying on them.
The practical point: the cancellation and RTD thresholds for Gold are tight. One bad week of stock-outs on a 2,000-order month can push you over 0.15%.
Why listings get suppressed and the fix for each cause
Flipkart shows blocked and inactive listings under Listings > My Listings in Seller Hub, with a reason code against each. The common causes and fixes:
- Out of stock: the most common reason. Update inventory in Seller Hub or your OMS and check serviceable pincodes. Note that a seller cancellation after an SLA breach can auto-mark the listing out of stock for seven days.
- Missing mandatory attributes: manufacturer name and address, packer details, country of origin, MRP. Add them in Edit Listing > Attributes and resubmit.
- Image rejection: white background, no watermarks, correct size and enough images. Replace the images and resubmit.
- Price or tax errors: selling price above MRP, wrong GST rate, incomplete GSTIN. Correct under Pricing.
- QC rejection: attribute errors caught by Flipkart's catalogue QC team. Check each flagged attribute and resubmit for verification.
- Policy or brand issues: restricted category, missing brand authorisation, IP complaint. Upload the documents; if the block is legal, raise a ticket with Seller Support.
Flipkart's own advice on listings is to use high-resolution multi-angle images, accurate descriptions and relevant keywords in backend fields, because optimised listings are "more likely to appear in search results".
Dispatch and SLA discipline
Dispatch discipline is where account health is won or lost, and since August 2026 it also costs money. Press reports of Flipkart's seller communication say that from 23 August 2026 sellers pay ₹30 per shipment for missing the Dispatch By Date, ₹60 for a seller cancellation(including auto-cancellation after three missed dispatch deadlines), and ₹90 if an order is delayed and then cancelled. One report says new sellers are exempt for their first three months. We could not find a public official page for this; check the fee notification in your Seller Hub.
Practical rules:
- Mark RTD as soon as the parcel is packed, not when the courier arrives.
- Set processing time honestly at listing level. A longer promised SLA that you meet is better than a short one you breach.
- Sync stock at least twice a day across every channel. Stock-outs cause cancellations, and cancellations are the single most damaging metric.
- Do not set orders aside for pick-up failures. Three failed handovers is a pick-up breach.
Returns and RTO
Customer returns are benchmarked by category rather than a single number. Flipkart's own guidance on reducing returns comes down to one cause, "disconnect between customer expectations and the actual product received", and eight fixes: precise descriptions, honest pricing, reliable delivery, consistent quality, protective packaging, high-resolution images, responding to negative reviews, and offering exchanges instead of returns where possible.
RTO(courier returns where the customer never received the item) is tracked separately from customer returns. High RTO usually points to a pincode, COD or address problem rather than a product problem. Pull your RTO report by pincode monthly and consider prepaid-only in the worst clusters.
When accounts get deactivated and how to appeal
Flipkart does not publish a deactivation threshold. Third-party reinstatement guides list the usual triggers: repeated seller cancellations, late dispatch, counterfeit or unauthorised branded goods, wrong categorisation, GST or document mismatch, restricted products, review manipulation and multiple accounts linked by the same GST, PAN or bank account. Action can be listing-level, category-level, temporary or permanent.
The appeal route that works:
- Read the exact notice under Performance and Notifications in Seller Hub. Note the policy named.
- Fix the cause first. Delist the offending SKUs, correct documents, update stock.
- Gather proof: GST, PAN, supplier invoices, brand authorisation, courier proof.
- Write a short plan of action: what happened, why, what you changed, how you will prevent it.
- Submit through Seller Support and follow up. Reinstatement guides report replies "within a few working days to a couple of weeks". Flipkart has not published an official timeline.
Do not open a second account while the first is under review. Linked accounts are a stated reason for permanent blocks.
SPF claims
The Seller Protection Fund(SPF) compensates sellers for losses that are not their fault. Flipkart has an official page on it but it was not readable at the time of writing. Third-party guides say SPF covers forward shipments lost in transit, return shipments lost in reverse, and returns that arrive damaged, wrong, used or with missing parts.
Claims are filed in Seller Hub under the order or return, with the claim window shown live against each case. Deadlines vary by case type, so file early. Evidence that gets claims approved: readable shipping label, outer packaging photos, all-side product photos, an unboxing video, invoice and tracking. One VMS vendor states that a compliant packing video system is now required for SPF eligibility and cites 14-day and 120-day windows for return and non-delivery cases. Official claim windows are not published on a public page; use the deadline shown in your Seller Hub.
A weekly account-health checklist
- Monday: open Performance in Seller Hub. Note cancellation rate, RTD breach rate and product rating against last week.
- Check Listings > Inactive and Blocked. Clear every reason code the same day.
- Reconcile stock across channels. Zero out anything you cannot ship in the promised SLA.
- Review pending orders against Dispatch By Date. Anything at risk gets packed first.
- Inspect and photograph every return on arrival. File SPF claims before the window closes.
- Read new product reviews under three stars. Fix the listing if the complaint is about expectation, fix the product if it is about quality.
- Pull the RTO report by pincode. Flag clusters above your average.
- Check Notifications for policy notices, fee changes and document requests. Reply within 48 hours.
FAQ
What is a good seller cancellation rate on Flipkart? Flipkart's published tier thresholds are below 0.50% for Silver and below 0.15% for Gold. Aim for Gold's number even if your sales volume does not qualify you for Gold.
How do I check my Flipkart seller tier? Flipkart's public page does not say where the tier is displayed. Sellers report seeing it in the Performance or Growth section of Seller Hub, and Silver and Gold sellers receive account management support. If you cannot see it, ask Seller Support.
Does poor account health stop me running Flipkart Ads? Flipkart has not published an account-health rule for ads eligibility. In practice, ads only run on active, in-stock listings, so any suppression removes the listing from ads until it is fixed. Product ratings also affect conversion, which decides whether ads pay back.
My Flipkart account was deactivated. What is the first thing to do? Read the notice in Seller Hub and identify the exact policy named. Fix that issue before writing the appeal. Appeals that only argue are rejected; appeals that show the fix and a prevention plan are the ones that get through.
Keep it healthy every week
Account health on Flipkart is not a one-time fix. It is a weekly habit of stock accuracy, on-time RTD, clean listings and fast claims. If you would rather have ex-Flipkart operators run that habit for you, see our Flipkart account management service at /services/flipkart-account-management/.
