Nykaa does not publish a seller rate card. As of September 2026 its seller pages describe a curated, invitation-style onboarding, and the commercial terms are agreed with a category team after your brand is approved. That makes Nykaa different from Amazon or Flipkart, where the fee structure is at least partly public. This guide sets out the two ways money flows on Nykaa, what third-party 2026 sources report for commission and logistics, what is confirmed and what is not, and a worked example so you can price before you apply. If you have not yet been onboarded, start with our how to sell on Nykaa guide; this article is about what happens to your money once you are live.

Nykaa Seller Fees Explained (2026): Commission, Margin, Logistics, GST and Payment Cycle
By Blooprint team ยท Published 24 September 2026 ยท 9 min read
Key takeaways
- Nykaa publishes no rate card; beauty brands mostly sell on an inventory model where Nykaa buys at a margin, and fashion brands on a marketplace model with commission.
- Third-party 2026 estimates put marketplace commission at roughly 15% to 30% by category, with 18% GST added on top of the commission itself.
- If Nykaa ships the order, agency guides quote a weight-based logistics fee of about Rs 40 to Rs 80; ads on Nykaa's own platform are billed separately.
- Settlement timing is not published and reports range from 7 to 45 days after delivery; the worked Rs 899 example nets roughly Rs 560 before ads.

How does Nykaa work with sellers?
Nykaa runs two commercial models, and which one you land in decides how fees work.
- Inventory model. Nykaa buys stock from you or your authorised distributor, holds it in its own warehouses and sells it as the seller of record. Most beauty and personal care runs this way. There is no "commission" as such; Nykaa buys at a margin below MRP and keeps the difference. Nykaa's investor material describes its beauty business as largely inventory-led, so this is the default for cosmetics, skincare and haircare brands.
- Marketplace model. You list and sell in your own name, Nykaa takes a commission on each order, and fulfilment is either through Nykaa's logistics partners or, for brands that meet its service levels, your own warehouse. Nykaa Fashion, and some beauty and wellness categories, run this way.
Two practical consequences follow. First, if you are a beauty brand, most of the "Nykaa commission" numbers you see online do not apply to you; you are negotiating a purchase margin, a payment term and a returns-to-vendor clause. Second, if you are a fashion or wellness brand, the commission figures matter, but so do the logistics fee, GST and the settlement cycle, which are the lines that surprise sellers.
What commission does Nykaa charge?
Nykaa itself publishes no number. The 2026 sources we read are broadly consistent on the shape, less so on the exact bands:
| Category | Range reported | Source type |
|---|---|---|
| Skincare | 15% to 26% | Agency guides (Unicommerce, Sylvr) |
| Colour cosmetics and makeup | 20% to 30% | Agency guides |
| Haircare | 15% to 25% | Agency guides |
| Fragrance | 22% to 25% | Agency guide (Sylvr) |
| Health, wellness and supplements | 10% to 22% | Agency guides |
| Nykaa Fashion | 25% to 35% | Agency guides |
| All categories | Not published | Nykaa (official) |
The D2C Acquisition Lab guide summarises the same picture as "10 to 25 percent by category and brand arrangement", with premium skincare and specialist cosmetics "in the 20 to 25 percent band". Brands with a strong offline presence or an existing salon channel report negotiating a few points lower; new digital-first brands rarely do. Whichever band you are quoted, remember it is charged on the selling price after any discount you fund, not on MRP, under the marketplace model.
Is GST added on top of the commission?
Yes. Every source agrees that Nykaa adds 18% GST on the commission amount, because commission is a service Nykaa supplies to you. A 25% commission therefore takes 29.5% of the selling price off your payout (25% plus 18% of 25%). The GST is claimable as input tax credit if you are GST-registered, which Nykaa requires, so it is a cash-flow cost rather than a permanent one. The same 18% applies to any logistics or advertising service Nykaa bills you for.
Two statutory deductions also appear on marketplace settlements in India and are easy to mistake for Nykaa fees. Under GST, e-commerce operators collect TCS at 0.5% of net taxable sales (reduced from 1% in July 2024), and under section 194-O of the Income Tax Act they deduct TDS at 0.1% of gross sales (reduced from 1% in October 2024). Both show up in your returns as credits; neither is Nykaa's income.
What does Nykaa charge for logistics?
Under the marketplace model there are two routes. If Nykaa's logistics partners pick up and deliver, agency guides quote a per-order logistics fee of roughly Rs 40 to Rs 80 depending on weight, plus GST. If your brand meets Nykaa's service levels you can ship from your own warehouse and pay your courier instead. Nykaa does not publish either the fee table or the service-level thresholds, so the range above is an estimate.
Returns are lower on Nykaa than on general marketplaces. Sylvr puts beauty returns at 3% to 8% against 8% to 15% on Amazon, which matches what brand teams tell us: beauty buyers on Nykaa are repeat customers who know the products. Fashion returns run higher. Reverse logistics on a customer return is normally charged to the seller under the marketplace model; the rupee figure is not published, and you should assume it roughly mirrors the forward fee when you model a fashion SKU.
What about advertising and promotions?
Nykaa sells sponsored products, brand pages and display placements through its own ads platform at ads.nykaa.com, billed separately from commission and also attracting 18% GST. Under the inventory model, the visibility conversation usually comes bundled into the margin negotiation: a higher margin may buy you a launch slot or a place in a themed sale. Brand-funded discounts during Nykaa's big sale events are also negotiated per event. None of this is published, but the D2C Acquisition Lab guide's model allocates about 10% of the selling price to marketing on a Rs 699 product, which is a sensible planning figure for a new brand.
When does Nykaa pay sellers?
This is the least well-documented part of Nykaa's terms, and the sources disagree. D2C Acquisition Lab reports settlement "7 to 14 days after an order is delivered". Ecomsarthi and Braincuber report "Net 30 to 45 days after delivery confirmation", and note that for high-return categories the effective realisation can stretch to 50 to 60 days from the original order. Nykaa's FAQ says settlement follows "the payment schedule decided during onboarding" and nothing more.
The likely explanation is that both are true for different brands: marketplace sellers see a shorter cycle tied to delivery, while inventory-model vendors are on a purchase-order payment term of 30 to 45 days, which is standard for Indian retail. Ask for the exact term in writing before you sign, and model the working-capital cost of it. A brand doing Rs 10 lakh a month on 45-day terms has Rs 15 lakh of stock and receivables sitting with Nykaa at any time.
Worked example: a Rs 899 serum on the marketplace model
Assumptions, clearly labelled:
- Selling price Rs 899 after any discount you fund.
- Skincare, marketplace model, commission assumed at 25% (mid-point of the ranges above; not an official rate).
- Nykaa's logistics partner ships the order; fee assumed at Rs 60 for a sub-500 g parcel.
- Prepaid order, no return.
- GST at 18% on commission and logistics.
- Ads excluded, so this is the payout before marketing.
| Line | Amount | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | Rs 224.75 | 25% of Rs 899 (assumed rate) |
| GST on commission | Rs 40.46 | 18% of Rs 224.75 |
| Logistics | Rs 60.00 | Assumed weight-based fee |
| GST on logistics | Rs 10.80 | 18% of Rs 60 |
| TCS and TDS | Rs 5.39 | 0.5% plus 0.1% of Rs 899, recoverable |
| Total deductions | Rs 341.40 | About 38% of selling price |
| Payout | Rs 557.60 | Before ads and before GST credits come back |
Claim back the Rs 51.26 of GST and the Rs 5.39 of TCS and TDS through your returns and the true channel cost falls to about 32%. Add a 10% marketing share and you are back near 42%. That is why agency guides tell beauty brands to plan for an all-in channel cost of 30% to 40% on Nykaa's marketplace model.
The same product on the inventory model
Suppose instead Nykaa buys the serum at a 35% margin on the Rs 899 MRP. You invoice Nykaa Rs 584.35 a unit, pay your own freight to Nykaa's warehouse, and wait for the agreed payment term. There is no commission, no logistics fee on the customer order and no GST on commission, but you carry the payment term and any returns-to-vendor clause on unsold or damaged stock. The two models often net out within a few rupees of each other; the difference is who carries the working capital and the demand risk.
How do you check what Nykaa is actually charging you?
Because nothing is published, reconciliation matters more on Nykaa than on Amazon or Flipkart. A monthly routine that works:
- Export the settlement report and map every line to a category: commission, GST on commission, logistics, reverse logistics, ads, TCS, TDS, promotions.
- Compare the commission actually deducted against the rate in your agreement, SKU by SKU. Category misclassification is the most common leak.
- Check that every logistics charge matches a shipped order and that reverse charges match real returns.
- Confirm that TCS and TDS credits appear in your GST and income tax portals.
- Under the inventory model, match each purchase order to a receipt note and a payment, and chase short receipts within the claim window.
Blooprint's fashion and beauty marketplace management service runs this reconciliation monthly for brands on Nykaa, Myntra and Ajio, alongside catalogue, ads and sale-event planning.
FAQ
What is Nykaa's commission rate for sellers? Nykaa does not publish one. Agency guides for 2026 put marketplace commission at roughly 15% to 30% for beauty categories and 25% to 35% for fashion, plus 18% GST on the commission. Beauty brands are usually on an inventory model with a purchase margin instead.
Is there a registration or listing fee on Nykaa? No. There is no sign-up fee. Onboarding is by brand enquiry and category review rather than self-registration, and approval typically takes a couple of weeks with clean documents.
Does Nykaa charge GST on its fees? Yes, 18% on commission, logistics and advertising services. GST-registered sellers claim it back as input tax credit.
How long does Nykaa take to pay? Not published. Reports range from 7 to 14 days after delivery for marketplace sellers to 30 to 45 days for inventory-model vendors. Get the exact term in your agreement.
Who pays for shipping on Nykaa? Under the marketplace model the seller pays a weight-based logistics fee, reported at about Rs 40 to Rs 80 an order, unless approved to ship from their own warehouse. Under the inventory model you pay freight to Nykaa's warehouse and Nykaa handles the customer delivery.
Are returns high on Nykaa? Beauty returns are reported at 3% to 8%, lower than general marketplaces. Fashion returns are higher. Reverse logistics on marketplace returns is charged to the seller.
Getting your Nykaa economics right
Nykaa's public pages give you the model, not the numbers. The numbers sit in your agreement, your settlement reports and your ad invoices, and they change with category, brand strength and the sale calendar. If you want an ex-Flipkart team to model your margin by SKU before you sign, negotiate the right model for your category, and reconcile every payout, see our fashion and beauty marketplace management service.
