Amazon.ae Seller Account Requirements in 2026: The Documents, Details and Product Checks You Need Before You Register

By Blooprint team · Published 10 October 2026 · 6 min read

Key takeaways

  • Amazon.ae's registration list is a business email or Amazon account, a phone number, an Emirates ID, a recent statement or utility bill, and a bank account for proceeds.
  • Owners need a trade license; a legal representative or account manager needs a Power of Attorney instead.
  • The address proof must be less than 3 months old, and it can be a bank statement, credit card statement or utility bill.
  • Amazon.ae does not publish how long approval takes, and most products also need a GTIN or an approved GTIN exemption before you can list.

To register as a seller on Amazon.ae you need a business email or Amazon customer account, a reachable phone number, a national ID such as an Emirates ID, a recent bank statement, credit card statement or utility bill, a bank account for your sales proceeds, and either a trade license (if you own the business) or a Power of Attorney (if you are a legal representative). The statement must be less than 3 months old. This checklist covers each item, what trips sellers up, and the product-side requirements Amazon.ae applies after you register.

What documents does Amazon.ae ask for?

Work through this list before you open the registration form, as of October 2026. The list below is taken from Amazon's seller pages.

# Requirement What Amazon.ae says Source
1 Business email or Amazon customer account Either is accepted
2 Phone number One where you are reachable
3 National ID "National ID e.g. Emirates ID"
4 Address proof A bank account statement, credit card statement or utility bill, less than 3 months old
5 Business document Trade license if you are the owner, Power of Attorney if you are a legal representative
6 Bank account To receive sales proceeds

Amazon states the ID check "protects sellers and customers". The public pages do not list a minimum capital, a minimum turnover or an age limit, and we have not found one; if you hit one in Seller Central, treat that screen as the authority.

Which trade license do you need?

Amazon.ae asks for a trade license for owners. Amazon's public pages do not say whether a mainland or a free zone license is preferred; they do not distinguish between them. Make sure the license activity covers what you plan to sell. If you are choosing between zones, start with what license you need to sell online in the UAE and the mainland license and e-trader license definitions.

Two cautions:

  • E-trader and home-based licenses. Amazon's public pages do not say whether an e-trader license is accepted. Seller forum posts disagree, and forum posts are not Amazon policy. Ask Amazon seller support in writing before you pay for an e-trader license for this purpose.
  • Dubai Trade License perks. Accounts with a Dubai Trade License can join the DET x Amazon Accelerator, which offers up to AED 2,000 cashback (100% of monthly ad spend) on Amazon Advertising from 1 January to 31 December 2026. It is an ad incentive, not a registration requirement.

What if you manage the account for someone else?

If you are a legal representative or an account manager, Amazon asks for a Power of Attorney instead of the trade license. The business owner's details must still be accurate on the account. A marketplace agency that runs your account should never hold your only login: keep the primary user, the ID and the bank details in your own name.

What does it cost to register?

Registration itself has no fee on the public pages. Amazon says Professional accounts are available with no monthly subscription fee for a limited time and does not give an AED price or end date. You pay referral fees on each item sold (see Amazon.ae referral fees by category) and any fulfilment, storage and advertising charges you choose. Amazon also says its fees exclude VAT and that it adds VAT on top. The full picture is in Amazon.ae seller fees.

Do you need VAT registration to open an account?

The registration list on the public pages does not mention a VAT number (TRN). VAT is a separate legal duty: you must register once taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in 12 months, and you may register voluntarily above AED 187,500. Many sellers register early so they can reclaim VAT on stock and on Amazon's fees. Read UAE VAT registration for sellers and VAT on Amazon.ae and noon fees. This is general information, not tax advice; confirm with the Federal Tax Authority or a registered tax agent.

What are the product requirements after registration?

An approved account is not enough to list. Amazon's guides say:

  • GTIN. "In most cases, products must have a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), such as a UPC, an ISBN, or an EAN." If you do not have one, you may need to buy a code or request an exemption. The bulk-upload template's mandatory columns are SKU, price, EAN code and condition. Plan this early: see Amazon.ae GTIN exemption and the GTIN glossary entry.
  • Brand Registry. Optional, but needed for A+ Content and Sponsored Brands, and requires a pending or registered trademark. See Amazon.ae Brand Registry.
  • Category approvals. Some categories are restricted or gated. See Amazon.ae category approval.

What goes wrong at registration?

  1. Expired address proof. A statement older than 3 months does not meet the stated rule. Download a fresh one on the day.
  2. Names that do not match. The name on the Emirates ID, the trade license and the bank account should line up. If the license is in a company name, use the company's bank account.
  3. Wrong business document. Owners submit the trade license; representatives submit a Power of Attorney. Mixing them up causes rejection.
  4. Skipping the ID check. Amazon requires identity verification as part of registration; see Amazon.ae account verification for what is and is not published about it.
  5. Starting the listing work too late. GTINs and approvals take longer than registration. Start them in parallel.

In what order should you do things?

Do the slow items first. A trade license or bank account can take days to arrange. A sensible order is: license and company bank account, then GTINs and any brand paperwork, then registration, then identity verification, then listings. If you are still choosing a license, compare costs in UAE e-commerce license cost before you commit, because the license activity also affects which product categories a marketplace is comfortable approving.

Keep scans of every document in one folder named by date. Amazon may ask for the same documents again later, for example when you change bank details or respond to an account review, and having clean copies saves days.

FAQ

What do I need to register as an Amazon.ae seller? A business email or Amazon account, a phone number, an Emirates ID, a recent bank statement, credit card statement or utility bill, a bank account for proceeds, and a trade license if you own the business or a Power of Attorney if you represent it.

Can I sell on Amazon.ae without a trade license? Amazon's public pages ask owners for a trade license and do not describe a route without one for UAE businesses. Forum posts about alternatives conflict and are not Amazon policy, so confirm with seller support before you rely on one.

How old can the bank statement or utility bill be? Less than 3 months old. Amazon accepts a bank account statement, credit card statement or utility bill for this purpose.

How long does Amazon.ae take to approve a seller account? Amazon does not publish an approval time on its public seller pages. Allow for extra time if identity checks or document corrections are needed, and do not order stock on the assumption of a fixed date.

Do I need a VAT number to register? The public registration list does not include one. You still have to register for VAT when your taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in 12 months, and many sellers register earlier.

Do I need a trademark to sell on Amazon.ae? No. A trademark is needed for Brand Registry, which gives access to A+ Content and Sponsored Brands, not for opening a seller account.

Does registering cost money? Amazon says Professional accounts currently have no monthly subscription fee, for a limited time, and gives no end date. Referral fees apply to each sale.
