When is Prime Day in Australia?
Prime Day 2025 was Amazon Australia's longest to that point, running seven full days with deals on hundreds of thousands of products. Prime Day 2026 matched that length: 7 to 13 July 2026.
Amazon Australia has not announced 2027 dates on any public page as of 19 October 2026. Treat July as a working assumption because the last two events ran in that month, and nothing more. Do not lock in supplier orders to a date Amazon has not given you.
Prime Day is separate from the spring event. Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days 2025 ran to midnight on Monday 13 October 2025. The full retail year is on our Amazon Australia sales calendar.
Who can take part as a seller?
Amazon's public pages state one hard rule: sellers need a Professional selling plan to create deals. The Professional plan costs A$49.95 a month plus selling fees, excluding GST. An Individual plan seller pays A$0.99 per unit sold plus selling fees, and cannot create deals.
Beyond the plan, per-deal eligibility (review counts, star ratings, price history, stock levels) is shown to you inside Seller Central when you pick an ASIN. Amazon does not list those thresholds publicly for Australia, so none are quoted here. Any agency post giving exact star or review minimums is either from another marketplace or from memory.
Check this first. Open Seller Central, go to Advertising or Promotions, and look at the Deals dashboard well before the event. If your ASINs show as ineligible, the reason is listed there.
Which deal types can you use?
Amazon's public educational page names these tools:
| Tool | What the public page says | Plan needed |
|---|---|---|
| Lightning Deals | One of the two deal types Professional sellers can create | Professional |
| Best Deals | The second deal type | Professional |
| Coupons | Set up from the Coupons dashboard to raise visibility of eligible ASINs | Not stated on that page |
| Outlet Deals | Eligible FBA products can be featured on Amazon Outlet | FBA offers |
Amazon's Prime Day seller guide also points to Prime-exclusive discounts aimed at Prime members. For how deals and coupons work day to day, see our guide to Amazon deals and coupons in Australia.
What do deals cost?
Amazon Australia does not publish fees for Lightning Deals, Best Deals, Prime Exclusive Discounts or coupons on a public page. They are shown in Seller Central when you create the deal. Forum posts quote figures, but those are anecdotal, so this page does not repeat them. Your own cost is the discount you give, plus normal referral fees and fulfilment fees.
A simple illustration, with invented inputs: an item sells for A$40.00 and carries a 13% referral fee. You discount it 20% to A$32.00. The referral fee falls to about A$4.16 (13% of A$32.00; referral rates are in Amazon Australia referral fees by category). Your unit margin shrinks by the discount minus the fee saved, and any deal fee comes on top. Run that sum for every ASIN before you submit it.
What does Amazon tell sellers to do before Prime Day?
Amazon's own Prime Day guide recommends the following:
- Forecast stock from past sales and allow for production and shipping lead times, with a buffer for delays.
- Check competitor pricing and keep discounts inside a healthy margin.
- Improve images, descriptions and keywords.
- Consider raising advertising spend to hold visibility, and note that Sponsored Products has dynamic bidding.
- Consider Fulfilment by Amazon for storage, packing, shipping and customer service at high volumes.
That is sound but generic. The sections below turn it into dates.
Prime Day prep timeline for Australian sellers
Work backwards from the event start. The weeks below are a suggested plan, not Amazon rules.
- 12 to 16 weeks out: Forecast units per ASIN. If you import from China, book production and freight now (see shipping from China to Amazon FBA Australia).
- 8 weeks out: Check your FBA storage limits and aged stock. Capacity is tied to your selling plan and Inventory Performance Index, and Amazon does not publish the numeric limits. See FBA capacity limits in Australia.
- 4 to 6 weeks out: Get stock into fulfilment centres. Amazon says stock is typically available within three working days of delivery. Allow longer for peak.
- Check the deals dashboard: Submit deals as soon as the window opens, because Amazon may cap slots.
- 2 weeks out: Finalise listings, A+ Content if you have Brand Registry, and ad campaigns. See Prime Day advertising strategy.
- During the event: Watch stock cover and ad budgets daily. Amazon's minimum daily budget for Australia is listed as 15 in local currency.
- After: Review returns, cancel rates and storage charges. Peak storage rates apply October to December, not July.
What is the catch for small sellers?
Three things catch people out. First, margin: deals plus fees can push a thin product below break-even. Second, stock: running out mid-event wastes the deal slot and the ad spend. Third, storage: monthly storage is A$37.00 per cubic metre for standard-size items from January to September and A$51.80 from October to December, excluding GST. Stock you bring in for a July event is on the lower rate, but any left over by Q4 will not be.
Prime Day 2026 also saw Amazon Haul join the event for the first time, with items under A$5 and an extra 25% off for Prime members. Whether Haul is open to your products is not published for sellers.
FAQ
When is Prime Day 2027 in Australia? Amazon Australia had not announced 2027 dates on any public page as of 19 October 2026. The 2025 and 2026 events both ran in July. Treat that as a pattern, not a promise, and watch Seller Central and the Amazon Australia seller blog for the announcement.
What is the Prime Day deal submission deadline for Australian sellers? Amazon does not publish it on public pages. It appears in the Deals dashboard in Seller Central when the submission window opens, and it can differ between deal types. Check the dashboard early rather than relying on a blog post.
Do I need a Professional account for Prime Day? To create Lightning Deals or Best Deals, yes. The Professional plan is A$49.95 a month excluding GST. You can still benefit from the traffic with ads and normal pricing, but ads also need a Professional account.
Does Prime Day only help FBA sellers? Prime badges come with FBA, and Amazon recommends FBA for high order volumes. Merchant-fulfilled sellers can still run coupons and ads. Whether a given deal accepts non-FBA offers is shown in Seller Central.
Is a bigger discount always better? No. Amazon advises keeping discounts within a healthy profit margin. Work out margin after referral fee, fulfilment fee, GST and any deal fee. Walk away from ASINs where the maths fails.
Is this tax advice? No. It is general information. For how GST applies to discounted sales, confirm with the ATO or a registered tax agent, and see GST for Amazon sellers in Australia.
