Product Contextual Ads, or PCA, are the banner-style ads on Flipkart that sit above or between the product grid and show a set of your products together with a headline and brand imagery. Where a PLA is a single sponsored tile, a PCA is a shelf: three, four or five FSNs presented as a group, matched to the context of the page the shopper is on. They appear on the search results page, on category browse pages and, in one dedicated slot, on product pages below the Add to Cart button, which makes them the main way to intercept shoppers who are already looking at a competitor's listing.
How PCA works
A PCA campaign is created in the Flipkart Ads console alongside PLA. You choose the products either by rule (for example, all FSNs above a price, with a minimum discount, or only Flipkart Assured listings) or by picking them manually within one category. You then choose a creative:
- Auto creative: Flipkart builds the banner from your product images; the fastest way to launch.
- Rich creative: up to five images and three call-to-action buttons that you design.
- Interactive creative: an auto-generated product slider on your brand imagery.
- Video creative: a video unit intended for awareness rather than direct conversion.
Targeting works by keyword with phrase and exact match (up to 100 keywords per campaign as of September 2026), exact-match negative keywords, location and device, plus "related store" targeting that extends reach to adjacent categories. Placements are bid separately: top of search (slot 1), rest of search, top of browse, rest of browse and product page. Billing is cost per click, and the minimum budget is ₹1,000, whether set as a daily or a total figure. Flipkart supplies a PCA-specific product page performance report as well as the usual campaign, keyword, placement and search term reports.
Worked example: a women's ethnic-wear seller runs a PCA for five kurta sets at an average CPC of ₹10, with bids raised on the product-page slot. Over Big Billion Days week it takes 6,000 clicks for ₹60,000 and Flipkart attributes 520 units at an average ₹1,099, or ₹5,71,480, a ROI of 9.5. With a return rate of 25% in the category, the retained revenue is nearer ₹4,28,600, a ROI of 7.1, still above a break-even of around 5.
Why PCA matters for sellers
PCA does two things PLA cannot. It puts your products on a competitor's page at the moment a shopper is comparing, and it lets a brand show a range rather than one item, which suits sellers with a coherent line (a set of cookware, a range of shirt colours) more than single hero SKUs. The banner format also carries brand signals, so it is often the first "brand" spend a Flipkart seller makes before moving to Brand Ads. The flip side is cost: banner slots at the top of high-traffic categories attract higher CPCs, and the creative needs work. A PCA with weak imagery is expensive wallpaper. Flipkart has historically limited PCA to sellers or brands meeting certain criteria; check the Ads console for current eligibility rather than assuming access.
How to run PCA well
- Group products that belong together. Five random SKUs in one banner confuse the shopper; five variants or complementary items convert.
- Bid hardest on the product-page slot when you are cheaper or better rated than the category leaders, and lowest when you are not.
- Use rule-based selection with a discount floor during events so the banner only ever shows products with a live offer.
- Keep keyword lists tight. Exact and phrase match on 20 to 40 relevant terms outperform 100 loose ones; add negatives weekly.
- Refresh creative every campaign. Flipkart shoppers see the same banner slot daily; a stale creative loses click-through fast.
