"Amazon ads are not working" covers four different problems that need four different fixes: the ads are not showing at all, they show but nobody clicks, people click but nobody buys, or the ads work and cost more than they should. Before you touch a bid, find out which of the four you have. The campaign report tells you in a minute: zero impressions is an eligibility or bid problem; impressions with a low click-through rate is a listing-in-search problem; clicks with no orders is a listing-on-page problem; and orders at a CPC above what you meant to pay is a settings problem.

Amazon Ads Not Getting Impressions or Sales? 12 Causes and How to Fix Each One (2026)
By Blooprint team ยท Published 25 September 2026 ยท 8 min read
Key takeaways
- A Sponsored Products ad only serves when the ASIN is in stock, holds the featured offer and is not suppressed, so eligibility is the first check before any bid.
- Once a campaign spends its daily budget, Amazon stops showing its ads until midnight, and it may spend up to 100% above the daily average on any single day.
- Clicks without sales are almost always a listing problem; below about 5% conversion no bid on Amazon.in makes money on a typical margin.
- Dynamic up-and-down bidding and placement adjustments stack, so a CPC well above your bid is usually a setting you chose, not an Amazon error.

In this guide
This guide lists the twelve causes we find most often on Amazon.in accounts, grouped by symptom, with a fix for each. Amazon's own library and help pages are the source for how the tools behave; rupee figures are illustrations from the accounts we manage. It assumes the basics from our Amazon ads guide for Indian sellers. Checked 25 September 2026.
| Symptom | Likely causes (numbered below) | First thing to check |
|---|---|---|
| No impressions | 1 ineligible ASIN, 2 suppressed listing, 3 bid below the auction, 4 campaign or ad group paused or ended, 5 targets too narrow | Ad eligibility column in campaign manager |
| Impressions, few clicks | 6 weak main image, price or rating in search, 7 wrong targets | Click-through rate against 0.3% to 0.5% |
| Clicks, no sales | 8 listing does not convert, 9 judged inside the attribution window | Conversion rate against 5% to 10% |
| Costs too high | 10 CPC above bid, 11 budget gone by noon, 12 no negatives | Bidding strategy and placement settings |
Why are my Amazon ads getting no impressions?
1. The ASIN is not eligible to advertise
A Sponsored Products ad serves only for the featured offer (the Buy Box). If another seller holds it, or nobody does because the price moved, your ad is silently not shown. Amazon's guidance on the featured offer names price, delivery speed, account health and stock as the deciding factors, and states plainly that an out-of-stock item cannot be featured. Fix: in campaign manager, filter the advertised products by eligibility status. For each ineligible ASIN, check stock first, then whether you hold the Buy Box; if a reseller has undercut you, the ad problem is a pricing problem.
2. The listing is suppressed or inactive
A suppressed listing is hidden from search for a data or policy reason: a missing main image, a title over the category limit, a missing required attribute, or a compliance flag. It cannot be advertised. Fix: Seller Central, Manage Inventory, then the suppressed and inactive listings view; fix each issue listed. Our Amazon account health guide covers policy suppressions.
3. The bid is below the auction
If your bid sits under what other advertisers pay for the same placements, you win few or no auctions. Amazon shows a suggested bid range per target from recent winning bids. Fix: on a new campaign with zero impressions after 48 hours, raise bids to the bottom of the suggested range, not the top, and give it three days before changing anything else.
4. Something in the chain is paused, ended or out of budget
Campaign, ad group, target and ad all have their own status; any one paused stops delivery. Campaigns with an end date stop quietly. Fix: check each level's status column; then check the budget column, because a campaign that spent its budget shows no impressions for the rest of the day (see cause 11).
5. Targeting is too narrow
Ten exact-match keywords with low search volume can produce a handful of impressions a day and look broken. Fix: add a phrase-match or auto campaign alongside for discovery, and check the impression share the targets can actually offer.
Why do my ads get impressions but no clicks?
6. The listing loses in the search results
Shoppers see your main image, title, price, rating and delivery promise next to competitors', and click the best-looking one. A click-through rate under about 0.3% on Amazon.in usually means one of those five is losing. Fix: compare your tile with the three products around it in search. A 3.6-star rating against 4.3s, a price Rs 100 above the norm, or a main image on a cluttered background will not be fixed by bids.
7. The ad is showing for the wrong searches
Broad match and auto loose-match can serve your kurta for "kurta fabric" or "kurta pyjama men". Impressions pile up; clicks do not. Fix: pull the search term report, add irrelevant terms as negatives, and move the relevant ones to exact match.
Why do I get clicks but no sales?
8. The product page does not convert
This is the most common cause and the one people least want to hear. On a typical Amazon.in margin, conversion below about 5% means no bid is profitable. Rs 15 a click at 3% conversion is Rs 500 per order; on a Rs 799 product with Rs 369 of margin after fees that loses Rs 131 on every ad sale. At 8% conversion the same click costs Rs 187 per order and the campaign makes money. Fix: images (six or more, on white, with lifestyle and infographic shots), bullet points that answer the objections in your one-star reviews, A+ content if you are in Brand Registry, a price within the category band, and at least ten reviews before you scale spend. Pause ads on any ASIN under 5% conversion and fix the page.
9. You are judging inside the attribution window
Sponsored Products attribute sales for up to 14 days after a click, and Amazon's reporting fills in over several days. A campaign judged after 72 hours will always look worse than it is. Fix: give a new campaign at least two weeks and a hundred clicks per target before deciding it does not sell.
Why is my CPC higher than my bid?
10. Dynamic bidding and placement adjustments are stacking
Amazon's dynamic bidding guide states that "up and down" bidding can raise your bid by up to 100% when a click looks likely to convert. Placement adjustments add a percentage on top for top of search and product pages, up to 900%. They multiply. A Rs 10 bid with up-and-down bidding and a 200% top-of-search adjustment can reach Rs 10 x 3 x 2 = Rs 60 a click. Nothing is wrong with the account; a setting is doing what it says. Fix: set discovery campaigns to "down only". Apply placement adjustments only after the placement report shows that placement converting better than the others, and start at 25% to 50%, not 200%.
11. The budget is gone by noon
Amazon's budget guide states that once a campaign spends its daily budget its ads are not eligible to show until the budget resets at midnight. Evening traffic on Amazon.in often converts best, so a campaign that runs out at 1 pm buys the worse half of the day. Note also Amazon's daily budget policy: spend on any one day may go up to 100% above the average daily budget, averaged across the month, so a Rs 1,000 budget can legitimately spend Rs 2,000 on a Monday. Fix: if the campaign converts, raise the budget; if it does not, lower bids so the same budget lasts the day. The Budgets page in campaign manager shows average time in budget and a recommended budget built from estimated missed clicks. Our budget rules guide covers scheduling rules for sale days.
12. No negative keywords
Without negatives, the same irrelevant searches are paid for every week. On a Rs 50,000 a month account it is common to find Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000 going to terms with clicks and no orders over 60 days. Fix: a weekly search term review, adding any term with 10 or more clicks and no orders as a negative. Our negative keywords guide has the routine.
What order should you fix things in?
- Eligibility: stock, featured offer, suppression (causes 1, 2, 4). Nothing else matters until the ad can serve.
- Listing: conversion rate and search tile (causes 6, 8). Fixing this changes the right bid for everything.
- Targeting: negatives and match types (causes 5, 7, 12).
- Settings: bidding strategy, placements, budget (causes 10, 11).
- Bids: last, and only with two weeks of data (causes 3, 9).
Ad spend sits on top of referral, closing and shipping fees, so check the margin you are protecting with our Amazon seller fees guide before deciding what a click is worth. If listings, account health and ads all need attention at once, that is the case for our marketplace ads management service, where the same team handles all three.
FAQ
Why does my Amazon ad show zero impressions? Usually the ASIN is ineligible: out of stock, not holding the featured offer, or suppressed. Check the eligibility status in campaign manager before raising bids.
How long should I wait before judging a new Amazon campaign? Two weeks and around a hundred clicks per target. Attribution runs up to 14 days and reporting fills in over several days.
Why is Amazon charging more per click than my bid? Up-and-down dynamic bidding can double the bid, and placement adjustments add a percentage on top; the two stack. Switch discovery campaigns to down only and remove adjustments you cannot justify from the placement report.
My campaign runs out of budget every morning. Should I raise it? Only if it converts profitably. Otherwise lower bids so the budget lasts into the evening, when conversion is often best.
Can ads fix a listing that does not convert? No. Below about 5% conversion, no bid is profitable on a typical Amazon.in margin. Fix images, price and reviews first, then advertise.
Does a suppressed listing stop ads? Yes. A suppressed or inactive listing cannot be purchased, so its ads do not serve. Fix the listing issue in Manage Inventory first.
