Myntra Catalogue Guide 2026: Image Rules, Size Charts, Attribute Fields and Why Styles Get Rejected

By Blooprint team · Published 25 September 2026 · 9 min read

Key takeaways

  • Myntra images are portrait 3:4, at least 1,080 by 1,440 px, with slot 1 on pure white, and apparel must be shot on a full-length gender-matched model, not a mannequin or hanger.
  • Apparel needs five images per style in a fixed sequence: front, back, three-quarter, fabric detail and a styled look; footwear, jewellery and home follow their own category slot maps.
  • A garment-measured size chart in centimetres is mandatory for apparel and footwear, and a missing or brand-generic chart is one of the most common catalogue rejections.
  • Myntra's cataloguing team reviews every style; wrong aspect ratio, wrinkled garments, colour cast and a model wearing a similar rather than the exact product are the usual reasons for rejection.

Myntra is a fashion marketplace with a house style, and its catalogue rules exist to keep every product page looking like the rest of the site. That is why a set of images that sails through Flipkart or Amazon gets rejected on Myntra: the aspect ratio is different, mannequins are not allowed, the size chart has to be measured from the garment, and the attribute sheet is longer than anywhere else. This guide covers the rules as of September 2026: image specifications, model-shot versus flat-lay rules by category, image count and sequence, size charts, fabric and attribute fields, studio and shoot requirements, and the reasons the cataloguing team sends styles back. Myntra shares its full category guidelines with onboarded brands through the Partner Portal and does not publish them openly; where a number below comes from photography studios and catalogue tools that work with Myntra brands rather than from Myntra, we say so.

If you have not been onboarded yet, start with how to sell on Myntra; for the commission and logistics side see our Myntra seller fees guide. Our Myntra account management service handles cataloguing end to end for fashion and beauty brands.

What are the image specifications?

SpecificationRequirement
Aspect ratio3:4 portrait, mandatory; square or landscape is rejected
Minimum size1,080 x 1,440 px; studios report auto-rejection below about 1,000 x 1,200
Recommended size1,500 x 2,000 px or larger for the primary image
FormatJPEG, sRGB, around 2 MB or less per file
Background, slot 1Pure white (#FFFFFF)
Background, slots 2 onwardsWhite or light grey with soft shadow, consistent across the set
Not allowedText, logos, watermarks, price tags, borders, props that are not the product, visible mannequins, colour casts from poor white balance

Colour accuracy matters more on Myntra than most marketplaces because colour mismatch is a leading reason for returns, and returns are a cost you carry. Shoot with a grey card, correct white balance in post, and check the on-screen colour against the physical sample in daylight before upload. Myntra's cataloguing team rejects for a visible colour cast even when the composition is right.

Which categories need model shots, and which can use flat lays?

This is the rule that catches most new brands. The category sheet decides, and the broad pattern is:

CategoryPrimary imageNotes
Women's, men's and kids' apparel (tops, dresses, kurtas, jeans, ethnic sets, sportswear)Full-length on a live, gender-matched, age-appropriate modelNo mannequins, hangers, ghost-mannequin or headless crops in slot 1; kids' wear on a child model of the right age
Innerwear, loungewear, sleepwearOn-model for most sub-categories; some allow flat layCheck the category sheet; modesty framing rules apply
FootwearSide profile on white, pair or single per the sheetOn-foot shot in a secondary slot; sole and top view in later slots
Bags, wallets, beltsProduct on white, front viewModel or carried shot in a secondary slot; interior shot required for bags
Jewellery and watchesOn white; necklaces and earrings often on a bust or model per the sheetMacro detail in secondary slots; watches with hands set consistently
Sarees, dupattas, unstitched fabricDraped on a model for sarees; flat or draped for dupattas per sheetBlouse-piece and border details in secondary slots
Beauty, personal careProduct pack on white, frontTexture or swatch in a secondary slot
Home (bedsheets, cushions, decor)Styled room or flat lay per sheetThe one group where lifestyle primaries are common

Model rules are strict: women's wear on a female model, men's wear on a male model, with no exception for unisex labelling; the model must wear the exact SKU in the exact colour, not a similar piece; the fit should be the brand's intended fit, ironed and pinned so nothing bunches. Studios that shoot for Myntra brands report that mannequin visibility and gender mismatch are two of the top ten rejection reasons. AI-generated model imagery is being used by some brands in 2026; the same aspect ratio, gender match, full-length and garment-fidelity rules apply, and a rendered garment that differs from the real one is treated as a mismatch.

How many images, in what order?

For apparel, Myntra's standard is a minimum of five images per style, in a set sequence:

  1. Front, full length, on model, pure white background.
  2. Back, full length, same model, showing construction (zips, prints, back neck).
  3. Three-quarter or side view, at about 45 degrees.
  4. Fabric or trim detail: a macro of the weave, print, embroidery or hardware.
  5. Styled look shot: the garment worn as an outfit, with accessories, to show how to wear it.

Studios and catalogue tools working with Myntra brands report that fewer than four images is itself a rejection reason, and that styles with the full five-slot set convert better because the product page carousel feels complete. Footwear, bags, jewellery and home have their own slot maps that differ from this template; ask your category manager for the sheet rather than guessing. Every colour variant is its own style ID on Myntra and needs its own complete image set; you cannot reuse the navy set for the black.

What does the size chart need to look like?

Apparel and footwear on Myntra require a size chart, and the cataloguing team checks it. The chart must be measured from the garment (flat measurements such as chest, waist, hip, length, shoulder, sleeve for tops; waist, hip, inseam, rise for bottoms), in centimetres, one row per size you are listing, and it must match the sizes in the attribute sheet. A generic "brand size chart" copied across every style is a common rejection because a fitted shirt and a relaxed kurta from the same brand do not share measurements. Myntra also asks for a "to fit" chart (body measurements the size is meant for) on many categories, and for footwear a UK/EU/US size mapping with foot length in centimetres.

Why it matters in rupees. Suppose a Rs 1,499 kurta returns at 30% and a corrected size chart cuts that to 22%. On 1,000 units that is 80 fewer returns; at roughly Rs 150 to Rs 250 in reverse logistics and handling per return (a range reported for fashion marketplaces, not a Myntra figure), the chart saved Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000 on one style, before counting the garments that come back unsellable.

Which attribute and fabric fields are mandatory?

Myntra's attribute sheet is the longest of the Indian marketplaces because the filters on the left of every search page are built from it. For a women's top the mandatory fields typically include: brand, product type, colour (from Myntra's colour list), fabric, fabric type, pattern, print or pattern type, sleeve length, sleeve style, neck, length, hemline, occasion, fit, wash care, number of items, and the country of origin and manufacturer details required by Legal Metrology. Optional fields (transparency, stretch, surface styling, main trend, season) still feed filters and are worth filling.

Rules that trip brands up:

  • Values must come from Myntra's dropdown list, not free text; "Rayon Blend" is a value, "rayon mix" is not.
  • Fabric composition must match the garment label; a mismatch found later is a compliance issue, not just a catalogue one.
  • Colour must be the nearest Myntra colour family; naming a teal shirt "Blue" because that is the brand's shade name gets it filtered wrongly and returned.
  • Style ID, article number and the brand's own SKU code must be consistent across the image file names, the attribute sheet and the inventory file, because Myntra matches images to styles by file name.

What are the studio and shoot requirements?

Because model imagery is mandatory for apparel, most brands either shoot in a studio that already knows Myntra's guidelines or use Myntra's own studio services. Myntra runs cataloguing and photography services for brands through its partner programme; pricing is shared by the category team and is not published, so ask for the current rate card. If you shoot yourself, the checklist studios use:

  • Seamless white cyclorama or backdrop lit evenly, with a grey card frame at the start of each style for white balance.
  • Full-length framing with room above the head and below the feet for the 3:4 crop; do not crop at the ankles.
  • Models matched to category and size (a size M garment on a size M model), neutral pose in slot 1, hair and hands not covering the garment.
  • Garments steamed and pinned; wrinkles are a documented rejection reason.
  • Consistent camera height, lens and distance across the whole set so the carousel does not jump.
  • Files named by style ID and slot number as the Partner Portal expects, exported at 1,500 x 2,000 px JPEG sRGB.

Why do styles get rejected, and how do you fix them?

Rejection reasonFix
Wrong aspect ratio (square or landscape)Re-crop to 3:4 from the original frame; never stretch
Resolution below the minimumRe-export from the RAW or full-size file at 1,500 x 2,000 px; do not upscale
No model, or mannequin visible, in an apparel categoryRe-shoot on a model; ghost-mannequin is tolerated in a few sheets but is not the safe choice
Model gender or age mismatchRe-shoot with the correct model; no exception for unisex
Model wearing a similar, not the exact, productShoot every SKU and colour; do not reuse a hero shot across variants
Wrinkled garment, poor fit, colour cast, motion blurSteam, pin, use a grey card, faster shutter or more light
Slot 1 not on pure whiteReplace with the white-background frame; move the grey-background frame to slot 2 or 3
Fewer than the required imagesComplete the five-slot set (or the category's slot map)
Size chart missing, generic or not matching listed sizesMeasure the garment for each size; align rows with the attribute sheet
Attribute values not from the list, fabric mismatch, missing compliance fieldsRe-fill from the dropdowns; check against the garment label and packaging

Rejections come back through the Partner Portal against the style ID with a reason code. Fix and re-submit only the styles rejected; do not re-upload the whole batch, because a re-upload of an approved style can send it back into review. Keep a log of reason codes by style; after two or three batches the pattern usually points to one step in your process (the crop, the steaming, the size chart template) that is worth fixing at source.

How do you upload the catalogue?

Cataloguing happens in the Myntra Partner Portal. Brands download the category's attribute template, fill one row per style with the style ID, the attribute values and the size and inventory details, and upload it along with the image files named by style and slot. Myntra's cataloguing team reviews the styles and either approves them or returns them with reason codes. Turnaround is not published and varies by category and season; brands report that submissions before the big sale events (see our EORS glossary entry) take longer because everyone is uploading at once, so plan the catalogue four to six weeks before a sale, not one.

FAQ

What image size does Myntra require? Portrait 3:4 aspect ratio, at least 1,080 x 1,440 px, with 1,500 x 2,000 px recommended, JPEG in sRGB. Slot 1 must be on pure white.

Can I use a mannequin or flat lay for clothing on Myntra? Not for the primary image in most apparel categories. Myntra requires a full-length live model matched to the garment's gender and age. Flat lays and product-on-white are the norm for footwear, bags, jewellery, beauty and some home categories.

How many images does Myntra need per product? A minimum of five for apparel, in the sequence front, back, three-quarter, fabric detail and styled look. Other categories have their own slot maps. Every colour variant needs its own full set.

Is a size chart mandatory? Yes for apparel and footwear. It must be measured from the garment in centimetres, one row per listed size, and match the sizes in the attribute sheet. A generic brand chart is a common rejection.

Does Myntra offer photography services? Yes, Myntra runs studio and cataloguing services for partner brands. Rates are shared by the category team and are not published; many brands use independent studios that follow Myntra's guidelines instead.

How long does Myntra cataloguing take? Myntra does not publish a turnaround. Brands report longer queues ahead of sale events, so submit well in advance and fix rejections quickly to stay in the queue.

Getting your Myntra catalogue approved

Myntra's catalogue rules are demanding because the platform is curated, and the same discipline that gets a style approved is what makes it sell and come back less. If you want a team that briefs the shoot, builds the size charts, fills the attribute sheets and manages the rejection loop with Myntra's cataloguing team, see our Myntra account management service; it covers the catalogue alongside pricing, inventory and events. For the broader fashion picture, our fashion and beauty marketplaces service runs Myntra with Ajio, Nykaa and Amazon Fashion together.
