Amazon.ae charges FBA storage at AED 2 per cubic foot per month, before VAT, as published on its pricing page in October 2026. The page shows one rate and no separate Jan to Sep or Oct to Dec rate, and it gives no effective date for it. Fees are typically charged between the 7th and 15th day of the month after the month they apply to. Stock held for more than 365 days incurs a long-term storage fee. Amazon.ae does not print the long-term amount publicly, so this page shows the arithmetic you can do and flags what to ask.

How much does FBA storage cost per month?

The public rate is "cost per cubic foot per month: 2 AED". Amazon describes the charge as based on the daily average volume your stock uses in cubic feet per month. Amazon's beginner guide says the same thing in plain terms: inventory storage fees are charged monthly and based on the volume of inventory held in an Amazon fulfilment centre. The formula is simple:

Monthly storage fee = average cubic feet stored x AED 2, then VAT is added on top.

Stock held (average) Monthly fee before VAT
10 cubic feet AED 20
50 cubic feet AED 100
200 cubic feet AED 400
1,000 cubic feet AED 2,000

The rows are straight multiplication of the published rate. Amazon says all listed fees exclude VAT and that VAT is added to them; at the UAE 5% rate that makes the 50 cubic foot row AED 105. Read VAT on Amazon.ae and noon fees for how a registered seller treats it.

How do you convert units into cubic feet?

Amazon charges on volume, so measure one packed unit in centimetres and convert. One cubic foot is about 28,317 cubic centimetres. For a box 30 cm x 20 cm x 10 cm, the volume is 6,000 cubic centimetres, or about 0.21 cubic feet. Storing 100 of them is about 21 cubic feet, so roughly AED 42 a month at AED 2, before VAT. Amazon's pricing page uses the same 28,316.84 cubic centimetre divisor, and Amazon measures dimensions in its own systems, so your fee preview is the figure to trust.

What is the long-term storage fee?

Amazon.ae says inventory that has been in its fulfilment centres for 365 or more days incurs a long-term storage fee, and describes it as assessed monthly for items held more than 365 days. The public pages give no amount, no per-unit or per-cubic-foot formula, and no cut-off date for the monthly assessment.

What to do:

  • Treat 365 days as a hard ceiling and plan to sell or remove stock well before it.
  • Ask your Amazon account contact or check Seller Central fee documents for the current long-term rate before you commit to a large stock order.
  • Do not assume the rate is the same as another marketplace's or an earlier year's.

Check this first. Third-party blogs quote long-term storage amounts and peak-season surcharges for Amazon.ae. Amazon.ae's public pricing page shows neither. Verify in your own Seller Central before putting any number in a budget.

  • Dangerous goods. Amazon says additional inventory storage fees apply to products classified as dangerous goods, with no amount published.
  • Removal orders. Amazon lists removal order fees among other costs, with no amount on the public page.
  • New-to-FBA offer. Amazon runs a limited-time offer of free monthly storage, free removals and free return processing for eligible new-to-FBA ASINs. Eligibility and end date are in Seller Central.

Worked example: how long can a slow product sit?

Illustrative only. A seller sends 200 units of a product at 0.21 cubic feet each, so 42 cubic feet, to FBA. Storage at AED 2 per cubic foot is AED 84 a month before VAT. Each unit earns AED 8 profit before storage, after other fees.

Months to sell all 200 units, evenly Approx. average volume Storage before VAT Storage per unit sold
2 21 cu ft for 2 months AED 84 AED 0.42
6 21 cu ft for 6 months AED 252 AED 1.26
12 21 cu ft for 12 months AED 504 AED 2.52

Rows assume stock falls steadily, so average volume is half the starting volume. At 12 months the storage is AED 2.52 per unit, about a third of the AED 8 profit, and the oldest units cross the 365-day mark where the long-term fee, amount unpublished, begins. That is the real cost of slow stock: not the monthly rate, but the unknown fee after a year. Model your own products in the FBA calculator.

How do you reduce FBA storage fees?

  1. Send smaller, more frequent shipments. FBA has no minimum for the number of products you send. Replenish every few weeks instead of once a year.
  2. Review stock age monthly. As a rule of thumb (our suggestion, not an Amazon figure), flag anything near 270 days and decide: discount, bundle or remove.
  3. Cut package volume. A smaller outer carton for the same unit lowers the cubic feet. Check packaging with your supplier.
  4. Move slow lines to Easy Ship. You store them, Amazon delivers, and no FBA storage fee applies. Compare on FBA vs Easy Ship.
  5. Remove, do not abandon. A removal order has its own fee, so decide before the long-term fee starts.

For the inbound process, see sending inventory to Amazon.ae FBA.

How should you plan stock to keep storage low?

Storage is the one FBA fee you control through buying decisions, so tie it to a rule. A practical rule is a maximum number of days of cover per product, for example 45 days for fast sellers and 30 days for anything seasonal. Work backwards: daily sales times days of cover gives the units to hold, and units times volume per unit gives cubic feet, and so the monthly fee.

For example, a product selling 5 units a day with 45 days of cover means 225 units on hand. At 0.21 cubic feet per unit that is about 47 cubic feet, or roughly AED 94 a month before VAT at AED 2 per cubic foot. These inputs are illustrative; the point is that the fee follows from a number you choose. Revisit the rule each month, because Amazon can change fees, and the pricing page carries effective dates on other fee lines for that reason.

What goes wrong with storage fees?

  • Budgeting only for fulfilment. FBA fulfilment starts at AED 5.5 per unit in Amazon's rate table, but storage is billed separately each month.
  • Forgetting the lag. Storage for one month is charged around the 7th to 15th of the next, so a large invoice can arrive after you thought the cost was behind you.
  • Oversized cartons. You pay for volume, not units.
  • Long-term fee surprise. Stock bought for a season that did not sell.
