Getting stock into an Amazon.ae fulfilment centre is two completely different problems depending on where the stock starts. If it is already in a warehouse in Dubai or Sharjah, it is an appointment-booking and labelling exercise and you can be selling inside a week. If it is in Tiruppur or Noida, the Amazon part is the easy half: the hard half is customs, who the importer of record is, and who holds the licence that lets the goods clear.

Sending Inventory to Amazon.ae FBA in 2026: Inbound From Inside the UAE and Cross-Border From India
By Blooprint team ยท Published 27 September 2026 ยท 10 min read
Key takeaways
- Amazon.ae FBA is a five-step flow: set up FBA, list with FBA inventory, prep to Amazon packing rules, book a Carrier Central slot, then deliver.
- Stock typically becomes available for sale within 48 to 72 hours of arriving at the fulfilment centre and being received and processed.
- Amazon will not act as importer of record, so a cross-border shipment from India needs a UAE consignee with a licence, TRN and customs code.
- The FBA New Selection programme currently gives eligible new-to-FBA parent ASINs free inbound shipping, storage, removals and return processing.

This page covers both, and says plainly where Amazon publishes nothing. Figures are as of September 2026, and rupee conversions use an illustrative Rs 23.50 per AED. If you have not chosen a fulfilment model yet, read how to sell on Amazon.ae first, because Easy Ship and self-ship avoid this entire process.
What are the actual steps Amazon publishes?
Amazon.ae's FBA page sets out five steps, and there is nothing hidden behind them:
- Set up FBA. Create the selling account and log into Seller Central. Amazon's wording is that you are already registered for FBA, so there is no separate enrolment.
- Create your listings and specify FBA inventory against them. A listing that is not marked FBA will not accept an inbound plan.
- Prepare your products for transport "according to Amazon packing guidelines and shipping and routing requirements".
- Prepare the shipment and book an appointment. Create the shipping plan, print the Amazon shipment ID labels, and book the delivery slot on Carrier Central.
- Send the shipment once the appointment is confirmed.
Amazon's own FAQ answers the question everyone asks next: "Once your shipment arrives at the fulfillment center, your products typically become available for sale within 48-72 hours after being received and processed." Budget three days from gate-in to buyable, not the same afternoon.
Route one: inbound from a warehouse inside the UAE
This is the clean case. You hold stock in your own or a 3PL's warehouse in the UAE, the goods have already cleared customs in your entity's name, and you are moving them a few dozen kilometres.
- Get the size tier right before anything else. Amazon's standard tier is a fully packaged unit weighing 12 kg or less and within 45 cm on the longest side, 34 cm on the median and 26 cm on the shortest. Anything over on a dimension, or over 12 kg, is oversize. The gap matters: a standard parcel up to 1 kg costs 8.5 AED at a selling price of 25 AED or less and 10.5 AED above; the same weight in oversize costs 10.5 and 12.5 AED. Amazon reserves the right to take its own measurement and its measurement governs, so measure the packed unit, not the product.
- Barcode and label every unit. Amazon needs a scannable identifier on each unit and the shipment ID label on each box. If you have no manufacturer barcode you need a GTIN or an exemption; see GTIN.
- Book the Carrier Central slot before you load. Slots are finite and a truck that turns up without one gets turned away. This is the single most common cause of a first shipment slipping a week.
- Do not over-send on the first ASIN. Storage is 2 AED per cubic foot per month on daily average volume, billed between the 7th and 15th of the following month, and long-term storage fees bite at 365 days. Send six to eight weeks of cover, not a container.
Route two: cross-border from India into Amazon.ae FBA
Here is the part that catches Indian brands out. Amazon will not be the importer of record. A shipment arriving at a UAE port or airport needs a consignee who holds a valid trade licence, a customs client code and, if VAT-registered, a TRN. That consignee is you, if you have a UAE entity, or your distributor, or a freight forwarder acting as importer on your behalf under a written arrangement.
The practical chain looks like this:
| Stage | Who does it | Realistic time | What it costs you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Factory to Indian port or airport, export documentation | You, with your CHA | 2 to 5 days | Local haulage plus CHA fee; zero-rated export invoice, LUT, IEC and AD code on file |
| Sea freight Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Jebel Ali | Forwarder | 7 to 12 days port to port, plus sailing schedule | Cheapest per kg by a wide margin; the right choice for anything not launch-critical |
| Air freight to DXB or SHJ | Forwarder | 2 to 4 days | Multiples of sea freight per kg; use for launch stock and replenishment only |
| UAE import clearance | Importer of record, via a clearing agent | 1 to 3 days if documents are clean | GCC common customs duty of 5% on the CIF value, with category exceptions; 5% import VAT accounted for by the importer |
| Port or airport to your UAE warehouse | Local transporter | 1 day | Local delivery |
| Prep, label, book slot, deliver to Amazon FC | You or your 3PL | 2 to 4 days including slot availability | Labour plus the FBA inbound leg, free under New Selection for eligible ASINs |
| Receive and process at the FC | Amazon | 48 to 72 hours | Nil |
Total, sea: five to six weeks from factory gate to buyable, realistically. Air: ten to fourteen days. Both assume no document rejection, which is optimistic for a first shipment. Our export from India to Dubai guide covers the Indian-side paperwork, HS codes and the zero-rated export invoice in detail, and VAT in the UAE and KSA covers the registration thresholds and import VAT mechanics.
What does the prep and labelling actually involve?
Amazon publishes its packing and prep rules in Seller Central rather than on sell.amazon.ae, and they vary by category. The constants are worth planning for now:
- Every unit sellable as received. Poly-bagged where required, with a suffocation warning on bags over a threshold size, and no loose multipacks that could be split.
- Sets and multipacks marked as sets so a picker cannot break them.
- Expiry-dated goods labelled with the date in a readable format, and enough shelf life left at receipt. Grocery, supplements and cosmetics are all gated on Amazon.ae anyway, so the approval and the prep rules arrive together.
- Arabic labelling. This is a UAE regulatory requirement for many consumer categories rather than an Amazon rule, and it is the single most common reason an Indian brand's first shipment is rejected at the port rather than at the fulfilment centre. Plan the Arabic label at artwork stage, not as a sticker applied in Dubai.
- Shipment ID labels on every box, printed from the shipping plan, not reused from a previous shipment.
How does this compare with noon's inbound process?
If you run both platforms, and most Gulf sellers should, the two inbound flows are similar in shape and different in detail. noon calls its inbound document an ASN (Advance Shipment Note), created in Seller Lab, then sealed, then scheduled into a specific warehouse and time slot. noon publishes its rules for this in a way Amazon does not: a sealed ASN expires in 60 days if not scheduled, a scheduled ASN expires two days after its slot, and storage is allocated separately by item type (food and beverages, high retail value, cold chain, installation, apparel and footwear in the UAE only, default) and by size class (standard within 45 x 34 x 26 cm and 12 kg, oversize to 130 x 60 x 50 cm and 30 kg, bulky above that). Unused storage cannot be reallocated between types.
noon's barcode rule is stricter than most sellers expect: barcodes are mandatory on every unit for both FBN and FBP, you may create your own alphanumeric barcode of up to 16 characters if there is no manufacturer one, and "products without barcodes will be rejected during quality checks and cannot be fulfilled". Every size and colour variant needs its own unique barcode. Once a barcode is assigned to a SKU it cannot be deleted.
The one genuinely different thing about noon is that an Indian seller can use the cross-border Global Store lane and never import anything in their own name: you drop-ship to noon's consolidation centre in India, noon moves the goods, and returns land in a UAE or KSA free-zone warehouse. The constraint is that cross-border items must not be fragile or dangerous goods and must not exceed 2 kg on volumetric or actual weight. There is no Amazon.ae equivalent, which is why heavy or bulky SKUs going to Amazon need the UAE entity and the full import chain. More on that route in selling on noon from India and on the platform choice in noon vs Amazon.ae for Indian sellers.
A worked first-shipment budget
Assumptions: 600 units of a home-decor SKU, 0.4 kg each, packed within standard tier, sea freight from Nhava Sheva to Jebel Ali, CIF value AED 18,000 (about Rs 423,000), 5% duty, UAE entity as importer of record, FBA New Selection covering the inbound leg to the FC.
| Line | AED | Approx. INR at Rs 23.50 |
|---|---|---|
| Goods value, CIF Jebel Ali | 18,000 | Rs 423,000 |
| GCC customs duty at 5% of CIF | 900 | Rs 21,150 |
| Clearance, handling and local delivery (estimate, get quotes) | 900 to 1,500 | Rs 21,000 to 35,000 |
| Prep, barcoding and labelling at 1 AED per unit | 600 | Rs 14,100 |
| Inbound leg to the FC | 0 under New Selection | 0 |
| First month storage, 600 units at 0.1 cubic feet | 120 | Rs 2,820 |
| Landed into FBA, excluding freight already in CIF | 20,520 to 21,120 | Rs 482,000 to 496,000 |
That is roughly 34 to 35 AED of landed cost per unit before any Amazon selling fee. Import VAT of 5% is accounted for by the importer and recoverable by a VAT-registered UAE entity, which is why the entity question is a cash-flow question and not only a legal one. The clearance range is deliberately a range: it is the one line in this table that no public source will give you, so get three written quotes.
Getting the first shipment right
The pattern we see most often is a brand that spends eight weeks on listings and two days on inbound, then loses a month at the port over an Arabic label or a consignee who was never appointed properly. Sequence it the other way: settle the importer of record, the Arabic labelling and the size tier first, then list. If you want the inbound plan, the appointment discipline and the size-tier arithmetic handled alongside the catalogue, that is what our GCC account management work covers, on Amazon.ae and noon together. Reconciling what Amazon and noon actually charged against what the rate card says is part of the same monthly job, and it is the only way fee drift gets caught. See the service page for what is included.
FAQ
How long until my stock is sellable on Amazon.ae? Amazon states products typically become available within 48 to 72 hours of arriving and being received and processed. From factory gate in India, allow ten to fourteen days by air and five to six weeks by sea, including clearance and slot booking.
Can Amazon be the importer of record for my shipment from India? No, and Amazon.ae publishes no cross-border inbound programme at all. You need a UAE consignee with a valid licence, a customs code and a TRN if VAT-registered: your own entity, a distributor, or a forwarder acting as importer under a written arrangement.
Do I need an appointment to deliver to an Amazon.ae fulfilment centre? Yes. Amazon's own steps say to print the shipment ID labels and book the appointment on Carrier Central before sending. A vehicle arriving without a confirmed slot will not be unloaded.
What does the inbound leg cost? Your own transport cost normally, but eligible new-to-FBA ASINs enrolled in FBA New Selection get free shipping to the fulfilment centre, free monthly storage, free removals and free return processing. Check the terms in Seller Central before you rely on it.
How is noon's inbound process different? noon uses an ASN created in Seller Lab, then sealed and scheduled into a named warehouse and slot. A sealed ASN expires in 60 days if unscheduled and a scheduled one expires two days after its slot. Barcodes are mandatory on every unit and unbarcoded stock is rejected at quality check.
Should I ship by sea or air for a launch? Air for the first small batch so you can start selling and gathering reviews, sea for replenishment once the SKU has proven itself. Air freight costs a multiple of sea per kilogram, so using it for a full launch quantity usually destroys the margin the launch was meant to prove.
