Amazon Seller Central Australia: A Tour of the Main Sections and the Daily Tasks

By Blooprint team ยท Published 20 October 2026 ยท 6 min read

Key takeaways

  • Seller Central is where you manage your Amazon.com.au account: products, inventory, orders, payments, settings and your selling plan.
  • Amazon's targets are an order defect rate under 1%, pre-fulfilment cancel rate under 2.5% and late shipment rate under 4%, so check performance daily.
  • Reports, API access, advertising and deals depend on the Professional plan (A$49.95 a month excl. GST), so some menus look different on Individual.
  • Amazon publishes some detail only after login, including the account health rating scale and many fee rate cards, so verify those inside your own account.

Amazon Seller Central is the website where you run your Amazon.com.au business: you add products, update inventory, manage orders and check payments. You sign in at the Seller Central address that Amazon gives you on registration, and the menus you see depend partly on your selling plan. This page tours the main sections, then sets out the daily, weekly and monthly tasks. Amazon changes menu names and layouts from time to time, and much detail sits behind the login, so treat this as a map, not a screenshot.

What is Seller Central and who can use it?

Every registered seller gets access once identity verification is complete. The Professional plan adds bulk upload, order reports, seller-customised shipping rates, special listing features, API and report access, and Featured Offer eligibility. If you have not registered yet, start with the registration walkthrough.

Amazon also runs Seller University, with tutorial videos, and a seller forum where Amazon staff post fee and policy updates. Staff posts in the forum are where several 2026 fee changes were announced, such as the FBA fee reductions effective 10 June 2026.

What are the main sections of Seller Central?

Amazon's public pages do not document the full menu. This table covers the functions you will use, with what Amazon says publicly about each.

What should you check every day?

Run through these in order. It takes 10 to 15 minutes once you know the screens.

  1. Orders. Confirm any orders you ship yourself and check for cancellations or late shipments. Amazon notifies you by email or text when an order comes in.
  2. Messages and notifications. Customer messages and Amazon policy notices land here. Reply promptly. Unsolicited emails that claim to be Amazon but ask for your password or payment details are not from Seller Central; see Amazon seller scams in Australia.
  3. Performance. Amazon's targets are an order defect rate under 1%, pre-fulfilment cancel rate under 2.5% and late shipment rate under 4%. The account health rating is Amazon's summary view, but the scale is only published inside Seller Central. See seller performance metrics.
  4. Listings status. Look for suppressed or inactive listings. See suppressed listings.
  5. Stock levels. A product with no stock cannot sell, so watch for gaps. FBA stock is shown by fulfilment centre and inbound shipment.

What should you check weekly and monthly?

Weekly: - Advertising: review search terms, spend and ACOS for Sponsored Products. See Sponsored Products in Australia. Amazon bills ads per click with no charge for impressions. - Inventory: check sell-through. Amazon updates the Inventory Performance Index weekly from 90-day sell-through and stranded inventory. - Pricing: compare against competing offers and the Buy Box.

Monthly: - Fees and payments: reconcile payouts and fee charges. Aged inventory surcharges are assessed on the 15th of each month. See storage fees. - Tax: collect the reports your accountant needs for GST and BAS. - Storage: the peak storage rate applies from October to December, A$51.80 per cubic metre for standard-size items against A$37.00 from January to September, excluding GST.

How do payments appear in Seller Central?

Amazon pays only when the account is settled with a positive balance, and sends funds by electronic funds transfer to your bank account. After Amazon initiates a payment it can take up to five business days to arrive. Amazon's settlement cycle and any reserve are published inside Seller Central. See when Amazon pays sellers in Australia.

What should you set up in your first week?

Do these once, early, and the daily routine gets easier.

  1. Notifications. Account Settings lets you set notification preferences. Turn on order and policy alerts and use an email inbox someone actually reads.
  2. Store information. Check the store name, return address and business details match your verified identity.
  3. Shipping settings. If you ship yourself, set your handling time, regions and rates. See shipping templates. FBA does not serve postcodes 2898, 2899, 4875, 6798 and 6799.
  4. First listing. Add one product and check it goes live. Titles can be up to 200 characters, and images need to be at least 500 by 500 pixels. The listing optimisation guide goes further.
  5. Learning. Watch the Seller University videos linked from the Learn section.

Write down what you change and when. When metrics move, a short log is the quickest way to see why. Keep your login details, bank details and verification documents somewhere safe, in case you need them again.

Where do you get help when something breaks?

Start with Seller Central's help pages and the seller forum, then contact Seller Support from your account. Keep a record of case numbers and dates. If an account is restricted or suspended, Amazon's own process applies, and the explainer is on the suspension page. Amazon's A-to-z Guarantee claims also arrive in Seller Central; see A-to-z claims.

Check this first. Menu names, report names and policy pages change often and some are visible only after login. Treat Amazon's current in-account wording as the authority over this page.

What do Individual sellers see differently?

Individual sellers pay A$0.99 per item sold, excluding GST, and do not get advertising, deals or Easy Ship, which need Professional. Their reporting and bulk tools are more limited. Compare plans on the Individual vs Professional page.

FAQ

How do I log in to Amazon Seller Central Australia? Use the Seller Central login link on Amazon's selling site and the email and password you registered with. Only type credentials into pages you reached from Amazon's own site, not from links in emails.

Is Seller Central free? Access itself has no separate charge. Costs come from your selling plan, A$49.95 a month on Professional or A$0.99 per item on Individual, plus selling fees, all excluding GST.

Where do I see my payments in Seller Central? Payment and settlement views sit in the reports and payments area, and payouts are made by bank transfer once the balance settles. The cycle length is published inside Seller Central.

Can I use Seller Central on my phone? Amazon's public pages do not describe a mobile app or a mobile layout. Check the Seller Central help pages and the official app stores for a current Amazon seller app, and only download apps published by Amazon.

Can more than one person use my account? Amazon's public pages do not document team access, so check the Settings area of Seller Central for user permissions before giving anyone access. Never share your main login or one-time codes, including with anyone claiming to be from Amazon.

How do I change my selling plan? Use the My Services page in Seller Central to change your selling plan. Check the billing effect and the date it takes hold in your account before confirming, because Individual and Professional charge differently.
