Best Courier for E-commerce in the UAE (2026): How to Choose Between Marketplace Fulfilment, Your Own Courier and a 3PL

By Blooprint team · Published 10 October 2026 · 6 min read

Key takeaways

  • UAE couriers do not publish a seller rate card or cash-on-delivery fee, so the best courier is the one that gives you a written quote for your own parcel profile.
  • On Amazon.ae, Easy Ship means you store and pack, Amazon collects from your location and delivers, and you pay referral fees plus Amazon shipping rates set by shipment size.
  • Compare couriers on six things: pickup, delivery speed, COD remittance, failed-delivery handling, returns and restricted-goods rules, not on headline price alone.
  • Shipping to Saudi Arabia is a customs question first: KSA treats goods from other GCC states as imports and collects 15% VAT through ZATCA.

There is no single best courier for e-commerce in the UAE, and the carriers do not publish a seller rate card, so any "cheapest courier" ranking you read is a guess. What you can compare honestly is the delivery model. On Amazon.ae, Easy Ship means Amazon picks up from your location and delivers, and you pay referral fees plus Amazon shipping rates set by shipment size. Your own courier contract gives you more control but needs a quote. This page shows how to compare the options as of October 2026, what to ask each carrier, and which numbers nobody publishes.

Which delivery model fits your UAE business?

Most UAE sellers choose between three models. Pick the model first, then pick the carrier inside it.

Model Who collects and delivers You pay Best when
Marketplace fulfilment (Amazon FBA, noon FBN) The marketplace stores, packs and delivers Fulfilment and storage fees set by the marketplace You sell mainly on Amazon.ae or noon and want the fastest delivery badge
Marketplace-arranged pickup (Amazon Easy Ship) You store and pack; Amazon collects and delivers Referral fee plus shipping fee You want marketplace delivery without sending stock to a warehouse
Your own courier or 3PL A carrier you contract with Whatever you negotiate You sell on your own website, Instagram or several marketplaces

Amazon states that FBA is pay-as-you-go and the fulfilment fee covers pick, pack, shipping, customer service and returns. For the full three-way comparison read FBA vs Easy Ship vs self-ship and noon FBN vs FBP. If you want warehouse space and pick-and-pack from a third party, see fulfilment centres and 3PL in Dubai.

What can you actually compare between UAE couriers?

Use the same six questions with every courier. Ask for the answers in writing and keep the replies.

  1. Pickup. Do they collect from your address daily, or do you drop parcels at a branch? Is there a minimum daily volume?
  2. Delivery speed and coverage. Which emirates are next-day, and which areas take longer? Ask for the service levels by postcode, not a general promise.
  3. Cash on delivery. What is the COD fee, is it flat or a percentage, how many days until the cash is remitted to you, and what happens to a refused parcel? Our COD courier charges guide covers the questions in more detail.
  4. Failed delivery. How many attempts, what is charged per attempt, and when is the parcel returned to you? See failed delivery and RTO in the UAE.
  5. Returns. Do they collect returns from customers, at what price, and do you get a tracking number? See e-commerce returns in the UAE.
  6. Restricted goods. Which of your products need special handling? Perfume, aerosols and batteries are the common problem. See shipping perfume and batteries.

Check this first. None of the major UAE carriers publishes a seller COD fee or per-parcel rate card that we could open and cite. Treat any table of "UAE courier prices" on a blog as unverified and get your own quote.

Is cash on delivery a reason to choose one courier over another?

It can be. COD changes your cash flow because the courier collects from the customer and remits to you later. Amazon's public beginner's guide does not say how cash on delivery works on Easy Ship, so check the current terms in Seller Central. For any other carrier, COD is a commercial term you negotiate.

Two points sellers miss. First, the FTA's e-commerce VAT guide has no separate section on cash on delivery. How VAT applies to a COD fee you charge is explained in VAT on COD and delivery charges. Second, a refused COD parcel returns to you and you may still pay the outbound and return legs, depending on your contract.

How do you compare quotes fairly? A worked example

Illustrative only: the rates below are invented for the example and are not any carrier's prices. Suppose you ship 300 parcels a month and two couriers quote you.

Item (illustrative) Courier A Courier B
Delivery per parcel AED 14.00 AED 12.00
COD fee per COD parcel AED 4.00 AED 6.00
Failed delivery per extra attempt AED 5.00 AED 8.00
Return pickup per parcel AED 10.00 AED 12.00
Share of parcels that are COD 60% 60%
Share failing first attempt 8% 8%

Cost per month for 300 parcels: Courier A is 300 x 14.00 = AED 4,200, plus 180 COD parcels x 4.00 = AED 720, plus 24 failed attempts x 5.00 = AED 120, total AED 5,040. Courier B is 300 x 12.00 = AED 3,600, plus 180 x 6.00 = AED 1,080, plus 24 x 8.00 = AED 192, total AED 4,872. B is cheaper on headline price and cheaper in total here, but if your COD share rises to 90% (270 parcels) B's COD charge becomes AED 1,620 against A's AED 1,080 and the order reverses: A totals AED 5,400 and B AED 5,412. Run your own COD share and failure rate before you sign.

Can you ship to Saudi Arabia with the same courier?

Usually only if the courier clears customs for you. Saudi Arabia treats goods arriving from another GCC state as imports: the importer files a customs declaration and VAT is paid to ZATCA, the same procedure as imports from outside the GCC. Ask any courier whether the quote includes clearance, who is the importer of record, and who pays the 15% VAT. The full process is in shipping from the UAE to Saudi Arabia.

What about same-day delivery in Dubai?

Same-day is a separate product with its own carriers, cut-off times and minimum order values. It suits food, gifts and high-intent orders but not low-margin parcels. Compare it on its own terms in same-day delivery for Dubai sellers.

FAQ

Which is the cheapest courier for e-commerce in the UAE? We cannot name one, because carriers do not publish seller rates and prices depend on your volume, parcel weight and COD share. Get written quotes from at least three carriers using the same sample of 20 real orders, then compare total monthly cost as in the worked example above.

Is Amazon Easy Ship cheaper than hiring my own courier? It depends. With Easy Ship you pay referral fees plus Amazon shipping rates based on shipment size, and it only covers Amazon orders. Amazon says the Prime badge comes from using FBA. Your own courier works across all channels. Compare shipping fee with your quoted per-parcel rate.

Do I need a separate courier if I use FBA or noon FBN? For orders fulfilled by the marketplace, no, because the marketplace delivers. You still need a courier or 3PL for your own website orders and for any stock you send to the warehouse yourself. Many sellers use both.

Does the courier handle my COD cash? A courier that offers COD collects the cash from the customer and remits it to you under its own terms. Remittance timing and fees are contract terms, not published figures. Ask for the remittance schedule in writing before your first shipment.

Who pays when a delivery fails? That is set in your courier contract. Ask how many attempts are made, what each extra attempt costs and when a parcel returns to you. Carriers do not publish a standard answer, so negotiate it before you start.

Can I ship perfume or power banks with any courier? Not safely. Aramex's published prohibited-items material places perfume under flammable liquids and lists lithium batteries among prohibited items for ordinary shipments, with a separate dangerous goods service. Those lists may be older than current policy, so ask each carrier in writing.

What to do next

Write down your parcel weights, COD share and monthly volume, then ask three carriers for quotes on the same sample orders. If you sell on Amazon.ae or noon, check whether marketplace fulfilment already beats your own courier before you sign anything. Blooprint can run your Amazon.ae account management and noon account management, including the fulfilment setup, and you can start from how to sell on Amazon.ae.
