Shopsy Seller Guide 2026: How Shopsy Works With Your Flipkart Account, Price Rules, Returns and When to Use It

By Blooprint team · Published 25 September 2026 · 8 min read

Key takeaways

  • Shopsy is Flipkart's value marketplace and runs inside your existing Flipkart Seller Hub account; you opt in listing by listing by choosing Shopsy Marketplace under Add New Listing.
  • Commission is 0% on all Shopsy verticals, but the fixed fee, shipping, COD collection fee, return charges, GST and the August 2026 dispatch penalties still apply from the Flipkart rate card.
  • Shopsy buyers skew to smaller towns and cash on delivery, so returns and RTO run higher than on Flipkart and a Shopsy listing should be priced to survive them.
  • You switch Shopsy off by deactivating or zeroing stock on the Shopsy listing, not by closing anything; the Flipkart listing and the account are untouched.

Shopsy is Flipkart's value marketplace: a separate buyer app aimed at smaller towns and price-sensitive shoppers, with zero commission for sellers, run from the same Seller Hub account you already use for Flipkart. That last point is what most Shopsy questions come down to. There is no Shopsy seller account to open, no separate payout and no separate rate card; Shopsy is a channel you switch on for particular listings, and everything you do not change is inherited from Flipkart. This guide explains, as of September 2026, how opting in works, what the price and listing rules are, how returns behave, when Shopsy is worth using and when it is not, and how to switch it off. Fees are covered in our Shopsy seller fees guide and the shared account rules in Flipkart account health.

Flipkart's Shopsy pages state the zero-commission rule and the listing steps. Flipkart publishes the structure of its remaining fees but not the rupee amounts, which sit in the rate card in your Seller Hub. Anything below that is not from Flipkart's own pages is labelled as our reading or a third-party estimate.

How does Shopsy relate to your Flipkart seller account?

Shopsy launched in 2021 as Flipkart's app for the "next 200 million" shoppers and, per its own seller page, now has over 100 million users. Sellers never register with Shopsy directly. Flipkart's Shopsy FAQ says the route is your existing Seller Hub: if you are not yet a Flipkart seller you register at seller.flipkart.com with GST, PAN and a bank account, and Shopsy becomes available as a marketplace option inside that account. Orders from Shopsy buyers appear in the same order list, use the same Flipkart logistics network of 900-plus pickup hubs, settle to the same bank account, and count towards the same seller tier and account-health metrics.

What is separate is the listing. A Shopsy listing is created as a Shopsy listing, on a Shopsy vertical, with Shopsy's simplified catalogue rules; it is not a mirror of the Flipkart listing, and a product can exist on either, both or neither. That is also why there is no "Shopsy toggle" at account level: you opt in one listing at a time.

How do you opt in and list on Shopsy?

Flipkart's FAQ gives the steps. On the web: Seller Hub > Listings > Add New Listings, choose Single or Bulk Listing, select "Shopsy Marketplace", toggle to Shopsy and pick the category, vertical and brand, then complete the listing as you would for Flipkart. On the Seller Hub mobile app: open the Shopsy section, Listings, "Create Shopsy listing", and search for the category. Bulk listing works the same way with a Shopsy template.

The cataloguing rules are looser than Flipkart's, and Flipkart says so: "No professional photoshoot required", with tabletop, hanger and phone photographs approved, and no trademark registration needed to list under your own brand. In practice we still shoot Shopsy listings on a plain background, because the looser rule is about approval, not about conversion or returns.

What are the price rules on Shopsy?

Flipkart publishes no price ceiling for Shopsy; the zero-commission rule since November 2025 is "on all verticals" at "any price point", and Flipkart's Shopsy page carries an asterisk on 0% that points to terms in the rate card. What shapes price in practice is the buyer. Shopsy's audience buys on price, and the app's discovery surfaces are sorted and filtered by it, so the listings that move are the ones under a few hundred rupees in fashion and home and under about ₹1,000 elsewhere. Third-party guides suggest pricing 15 to 25% under your Flipkart price for the same SKU; we would not put a number on it, because the right gap is whatever your fixed fee, shipping and expected return rate leave you.

Two rules matter more than any ceiling. First, price consistency: Flipkart's systems see both listings, and a Shopsy price far below the Flipkart price on an identical product tends to pull the Flipkart listing's buy box and conversion down, because the Flipkart price no longer looks competitive. Second, the fixed fee: with commission at zero, the per-order fixed fee by seller tier is the largest deduction on a low-priced item, so a ₹149 product that pays a ₹20 fixed fee, local shipping and GST is a thinner margin than the headline suggests. Our fees guide models a ₹249 kurta netting about ₹231 on a prepaid local order.

How do returns work on Shopsy?

Returns follow Flipkart's customer return policy for the category, and the seller side follows the Flipkart rate card: return shipping is charged to the seller on customer returns, and RTO parcels that are refused at the door come back with the reverse charge for the category. Flipkart's Shopsy FAQ adds one Shopsy-specific instruction: when a return is marked complete but the product has not reached you, request the delivery proof through Support before the claim window closes.

The behavioural difference is what matters. Shopsy buyers are cash-on-delivery heavy and new to online shopping, so door refusals and "not as expected" returns run higher than on Flipkart for the same product, and one return can erase the margin on several sales at Shopsy price points. Reduce them the same way as everywhere: honest images of the actual stock, a size chart in the image set, weight and material in the description, and prepaid-only in pincode clusters where RTO is worst. Every Shopsy return and RTO counts in the same return metrics as your Flipkart orders, so a bad Shopsy SKU hurts the whole account.

When should you use Shopsy, and when not?

Shopsy works for:

  • Low-priced, light SKUs in fashion, home, kitchen and accessories, where zero commission removes the biggest deduction and shipping is cheap.
  • Unbranded or own-brand goods where Flipkart's brand registration is a hurdle and Shopsy's looser cataloguing is not.
  • Clearing end-of-season or overstock at a lower price without disturbing the Flipkart listing's price history.
  • Reaching tier-2 and tier-3 buyers your Flipkart listing does not reach, especially during Big Billion Days, when Shopsy runs its own event.

Shopsy does not work for:

  • Heavy or bulky items, where the shipping fee alone can exceed the zero-commission saving.
  • Premium or branded products, whose buyers are not on Shopsy and whose Flipkart pricing gets undercut.
  • Products with a fragile margin, because Shopsy's return and RTO rates are higher.
  • Sellers with weak dispatch discipline: every missed dispatch on a Shopsy order carries the same ₹30 to ₹90 penalty and the same account-health hit as a Flipkart order.

How do you switch Shopsy on and off?

Because Shopsy is opted in per listing, switching it on is creating a Shopsy listing, and switching it off is deactivating that listing (Listings > the Shopsy listing > deactivate) or setting its stock to zero. Nothing happens to the Flipkart listing, the account or the payout. Sellers use this to run Shopsy seasonally, to pause a SKU whose Shopsy returns have spiked, or to cap Shopsy orders by allocating a fixed stock quantity to the Shopsy listing rather than sharing the whole inventory. If you use an OMS or channel integration, treat Shopsy as a separate channel in it so stock and price are set deliberately rather than mirrored.

Deactivating a Shopsy listing while Shopsy orders are open does not cancel them. Dispatch the open orders first; a seller cancellation on a Shopsy order is a Flipkart seller cancellation with the same penalty and the same tier impact.

A worked example: the same SKU on both channels

A ₹399 cotton kurta on Flipkart at a Bronze tier: with fashion commission at 0% since September 2026 the deductions are the fixed fee, local shipping and GST, and the seller nets somewhere around ₹355 on a prepaid local order, depending on the rate card. The same kurta listed on Shopsy at ₹299 pays the same fixed fee and shipping with no commission and nets around ₹260. If the Flipkart listing converts at 100 orders a month and Shopsy adds 60 more without cannibalising Flipkart, Shopsy contributes roughly ₹15,600 of extra net revenue. If Shopsy's return-plus-RTO rate is 30% against Flipkart's 15%, and each return costs about ₹100 in reverse fees and lost forward shipping, Shopsy's 60 orders lose about ₹1,800 to returns against roughly ₹1,500 on Flipkart's 100. Shopsy still adds money, but only because the SKU is light, cheap and honest; the same maths on a ₹1,299 jacket with a 40% return rate goes negative.

FAQ

Do I need a separate Shopsy seller account? No. Shopsy listings are created inside your Flipkart Seller Hub account under the "Shopsy Marketplace" option. Orders, logistics, payouts and account health are shared with Flipkart.

Is Shopsy really zero commission? Flipkart's Shopsy page says 0% commission on all Shopsy verticals at any price, since November 2025. The fixed fee, shipping, COD collection fee, return charges, GST and dispatch penalties from the Flipkart rate card still apply.

Is there a maximum price on Shopsy? Flipkart publishes no ceiling. In practice Shopsy's buyers and its price-sorted discovery mean listings above roughly ₹1,000 rarely move; the channel is built for low-priced, light goods.

Do Shopsy returns affect my Flipkart account health? Yes. Shopsy orders count in the same cancellation, dispatch and return metrics and the same seller tier as Flipkart orders, and Shopsy's COD-heavy buyers return and refuse more often.

How do I stop selling on Shopsy? Deactivate the Shopsy listing or set its stock to zero in Seller Hub. The Flipkart listing and the account are unaffected. Dispatch any open Shopsy orders first to avoid cancellation penalties.

Can I list on Shopsy without a trademark? Yes. Flipkart's Shopsy FAQ says no trademark registration is needed to list your own brand on Shopsy, and phone photographs are accepted.

Treat Shopsy as a channel, not a second store

Shopsy is a cheap way to add tier-2 demand for the right SKUs and an expensive way to add returns for the wrong ones. Pick the light, low-priced, honest listings, price them for the fixed fee and the return rate, keep dispatch discipline identical to Flipkart, and switch SKUs off when their return rate says so. If you would rather have Flipkart and Shopsy run together by people who know the rate card, see our Flipkart account management service; Shopsy is included, and a free audit through the Flipkart service page will tell you which of your SKUs belong there.
