Tabby for UAE Merchants in 2026: How Sign-Up, Plugins, Capture, Refunds and Payouts Work

By Blooprint team · Published 10 October 2026 · 6 min read

Key takeaways

  • Tabby's merchant page offers Pay in 4 (interest-free, merchant paid upfront) and longer plans of up to 12 payments, with a stated set-up time of 24 hours.
  • Tabby does not publish its merchant fee or a settlement timetable on its public pages. It says only that merchants receive the full amount in days. Get both in writing.
  • You must capture a payment to receive funds. If you close the payment instead, Tabby does not release funds and the customer's down payment goes back to them.
  • Tabby shows shoppers its own approval decision and does not tell merchants why a customer was rejected, so you cannot override or explain a refusal.

Tabby is a buy-now-pay-later provider that operates in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As a merchant you add it at checkout so shoppers can split a purchase. Tabby's merchant page describes Pay in 4, where customers pay four interest-free instalments and you are paid upfront, and longer plans of up to 12 payments, and says you can "get set up in 24 hours". What Tabby does not publish on its public pages is its merchant fee, its eligibility rules for merchants and a specific settlement timetable. This guide covers what is documented, and what to ask for before you sign.

What does Tabby offer a UAE merchant?

According to Tabby's merchant page:

  • Pay in 4. The customer splits the purchase into four interest-free payments. Tabby says the merchant is paid upfront.
  • Pay over time. Longer plans of up to 12 payments.
  • Online and in-store. Setup supports online stores, physical stores, no-code and low-code options, and plugins for major platforms.

Tabby's documentation also mentions a "Pay next month" option. Product names change often, so treat the live merchant dashboard as the source of truth for what your store can show.

Tabby is one of several options. Its main local rival is covered in the Tamara merchant guide, and the payment gateway comparison shows where BNPL sits next to cards.

How do you become a Tabby merchant?

The public route is: open merchant sign-up from Tabby's business page, which sends you to merchant.tabby.ai, submit your business details, then integrate. Tabby's public pages we read do not list the documents it requires, so expect to be asked for what any UAE payment provider asks for. A reasonable pack to have ready:

  1. A valid trade license in your company name. See what license you need to sell online in the UAE if you do not have one.
  2. Passport and Emirates ID for owners and signatories.
  3. A live website or app with prices, a returns page and contact details.
  4. A UAE company bank account in the company name for settlement. See business bank accounts for UAE e-commerce.

This list is our preparation advice, not Tabby's published checklist. Ask your Tabby contact for the real one in writing.

Which platforms and plugins does Tabby support?

Tabby's quick-start page lists pre-built plugins for Salla, Shopify, Zid, WooCommerce, Magento 2, OpenCart, Matjrah, Odoo and Salesforce. It also offers a custom API integration for online stores, an offline POS integration and offline custom payment links.

If you run Shopify, there is a dedicated plugin page in the documentation. Pair it with the payment methods in our Shopify Payments UAE guide so cards, BNPL and cash on delivery all appear in one checkout.

How does a Tabby payment work from your side?

Tabby's documentation describes two actions on a payment that matter for your cash:

Action What it means What happens to the money
Capture You confirm the order is fine Tabby releases funds to you
Close You cancel the payment from your side Tabby does not release funds; the down payment goes back to the customer

In practice that means you should capture when the order ships or is confirmed, and close when an order is cancelled before fulfilment. Do not leave payments open. The documentation recommends running Tabby's eligibility check once per checkout session, when the checkout page loads, not at "Place order". If the check times out, Tabby advises defaulting to showing the Tabby option and never blocking checkout.

How do refunds and disputes work?

Tabby's API reference says refunds "by default reflect instantly". That describes how fast the refund is recorded on the Tabby side; it does not tell you when the customer sees money or how a refund affects your payout, and the pages we read do not say.

For disputes, Tabby's documentation says dispute webhooks are supported for live payments only. It does not describe a chargeback process in the page we read. Ask your Business Manager how disputes are raised, how long you have to respond and whether a disputed amount is held back from payouts.

Your own returns policy matters here. UAE consumer law has rules on information, invoices and refunds, covered in UAE consumer protection and online returns.

What are Tabby's fees and payout timing?

Tabby does not publish them on the public pages we read. The merchant page says only that merchants "receive the full amount in days". The developer FAQ does not cover fees or settlement either; for support it points to Tabby Partner Support, your assigned Business Manager and the Tabby Support Center.

Before you sign, get these in writing:

  • the merchant discount rate, as a percentage and any fixed fee per order;
  • the settlement schedule and cut-off times, in business days;
  • whether VAT is charged on Tabby's fee (see UAE VAT registration for sellers);
  • the refund and dispute rules;
  • whether any reserve or rolling hold applies in your first months.

Worked example (illustrative, using a made-up rate): if a quote said 5% on a AED 400 basket, Tabby's cut would be AED 20 and you would receive AED 380, before VAT on the fee. Replace the 5% with your own quoted rate. We are not stating Tabby's real rate because it is not published.

Why does Tabby reject some of your customers?

Tabby decides eligibility per shopper at checkout. A rejected customer gets a "rejected" status, and your store should hide the Tabby option or show a message. Tabby says it is not permitted to disclose the specific rejection reasons to merchants. Tabby also applies its own dynamic limits, and recommends that you do not hard-code limits on your side.

So do not promise customers that Tabby will approve them. Offer another payment method next to it, such as cards or cash on delivery; see cash on delivery for UAE sellers.

What goes wrong for Tabby merchants?

  • Funds not received because payments were never captured. Capture on fulfilment.
  • Hard-coded limits that block baskets Tabby would have approved.
  • Blocking checkout when the eligibility call fails.
  • Margins that do not cover the fee. Add the fee to your landed-cost sheet before you list BNPL on low-margin items.
  • Mismatched refund records. Refund through the API so your store and Tabby agree.

FAQ

How do I become a Tabby merchant in the UAE? Use the sign-up on Tabby's business page, which leads to merchant.tabby.ai. Tabby says set-up takes 24 hours, but the public pages do not list its document requirements, so ask your Tabby contact for them and prepare your trade license, IDs and a live store.

How much does Tabby charge merchants? Tabby does not publish its merchant fee on the public pages we read. Ask for the rate, any fixed fee, VAT treatment and refund terms in writing before you sign, and build the fee into your pricing.

When does Tabby pay merchants? Tabby says merchants receive the full amount "in days" and that you are paid upfront on Pay in 4. It does not give a specific schedule in the pages we read, so request the settlement timetable and cut-off times in writing.

Does Tabby work with Shopify and WooCommerce? Yes. Tabby's quick-start page lists plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento 2, OpenCart, Odoo, Salla, Zid, Matjrah and Salesforce, plus a custom API and offline options such as POS and payment links.

Why was my customer rejected by Tabby? Tabby decides per customer and says it is not permitted to share the specific rejection reasons with merchants. Hide or replace the option when it returns "rejected", and tell the customer to use another payment method.

What is the difference between capture and close in Tabby? Capture confirms the order and Tabby releases funds to you. Close cancels the payment from your side, Tabby does not release funds and the customer's down payment is returned. Capture when you fulfil, close when you cancel.

Is Tabby available for in-store sales? Tabby's merchant page says setup supports online stores and physical stores. The documentation lists an offline POS integration and offline custom payment links.

What to do next

Request Tabby's written fee, settlement and dispute terms, then add its cost to your pricing before you switch it on. If you sell through marketplaces as well, Blooprint can run your noon account management and Amazon.ae account management. Tabby's terms change, so confirm all figures with Tabby directly.
