Amazon Australia had not announced Boxing Day 2026 sale dates, or a seller deal-submission window for it, on any public page as of 19 October 2026. Boxing Day itself is Saturday 26 December 2026. Amazon's public seller pages name Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days as its dated events, not Boxing Day. For sellers the practical position is: you can run your own Boxing Day pricing with coupons and ads, and you should plan stock and returns now, but do not assume an Amazon-run deals event until Seller Central shows one.

Amazon Boxing Day Sale in Australia: A Seller Guide to Stock, Returns and Pricing
By Blooprint team ยท Published 20 October 2026 ยท 6 min read
Key takeaways
- Amazon Australia had not published Boxing Day 2026 sale dates or a seller deal window on any public page as of 19 October 2026; 26 December 2026 is a Saturday.
- FBA storage is A$51.80 per cubic metre for standard-size stock from October to December, excluding GST, then drops to A$37.00 from January.
- Stock held past 270 days attracts the aged inventory surcharge from A$155 per cubic metre, so a Boxing Day clearance can protect margin.
- Returns arrive in January: the FBA fulfilment fee covers returns handling, but a returns processing fee applies in categories with free returns shipping.

Does Amazon Australia run a Boxing Day sale?
Amazon has not said so publicly. Amazon's Australian newsroom covers Prime Day 2026, which ran from 7 to 13 July, and Prime Big Deal Days, whose 2025 edition ran to 13 October. A Boxing Day page for 2026 is not among them.
That does not mean shoppers are absent. Boxing Day is a major retail date in Australia, and Amazon's own seller guide says 84% of Australians wait for sales before purchasing. That is Amazon-commissioned research, so weigh it accordingly.
See the Amazon Australia sales calendar for how Boxing Day sits against the other events.
What tools can you use for a Boxing Day promotion?
On a Professional plan (A$49.95 a month plus selling fees, excluding GST) you can create Lightning Deals and Best Deals, and run coupons from the Coupons dashboard. Eligible FBA products can go to Amazon Outlet. The plan price is on the pricing page.
Amazon does not publish fees, deadlines or eligibility rules for these tools in Australia. They are shown inside Seller Central. If your account does not offer a Boxing Day deal slot, coupons and a lower price are the tools left. Read the deals and coupons guide for how to set them up sensibly.
What does stock cost over Christmas?
Storage is the main cost swing. Monthly FBA storage is A$51.80 per cubic metre for standard-size items from October to December, and A$48.00 for oversize, against A$37.00 and A$34.20 from January to September. All excluding GST. Storage is billed on daily average volume.
An illustration with invented inputs: 3 cubic metres of standard-size stock costs about A$155.40 for a December month (3 x A$51.80). The same stock in January would be about A$111.00 (3 x A$37.00). If a Boxing Day sale clears two of those cubic metres, you save roughly A$74 a month in January storage on those units, before counting the sale margin.
Aged stock is a second reason to clear. The surcharge per cubic metre is A$155 at 271 to 300 days, A$175 at 301 to 330, A$185 at 331 to 365, and A$370 or A$0.12 per unit (whichever is greater) after that, assessed on the 15th. More in Amazon Australia storage fees.
What happens to returns after Boxing Day?
Returns land in January. FBA's fulfilment fee covers picking, packing, shipping, customer service and returns. A returns processing fee applies in categories where Amazon offers free returns shipping, and the amount is shown inside Seller Central, not publicly.
Sellable returns go back into sellable inventory. For unsellable ones, Amazon assesses who caused the damage, which decides reimbursement. For merchant-fulfilled orders you handle the return yourself. Consumer law matters here too: see Australian Consumer Law and Amazon returns.
Boxing Day plan for Australian sellers
| When | Job |
|---|---|
| Late October to mid-November | Set Christmas stock levels. Do not overbuy for January, when demand drops and storage still bills. |
| Late November | Decide which ASINs you will discount on Boxing Day and the lowest allowed price for each. |
| First half of December | Check the deals dashboard for anything Amazon offers. Set coupon dates. |
| 15 December | Aged-stock surcharge assessment date; check units near 270 days. |
| 24 to 26 December | Watch stock cover and ad budgets. Amazon's minimum daily ad budget for Australia is listed as 15 in local currency. |
| Early January | Review returns, cancel rate and settlement. Plan Outlet or removal for stock that did not sell. |
Check this first. The aged inventory assessment is on the 15th of each month. A unit that crosses 270 days on 16 December is not charged until 15 January.
What if you fulfil orders yourself?
Carrier cut-offs are the issue. Australia Post and other carriers publish their own last-order dates for Christmas, and Amazon does not set them. Amazon's performance targets still apply: late shipment rate under 4% and pre-fulfilment cancel rate under 2.5%. If you cannot ship on 26 December, set handling time in your settings and say so. See FBM with Australia Post.
How should you price for Boxing Day?
Start from the floor, not the discount. Add up what each unit costs you to land, the referral fee, the fulfilment fee, your storage allowance and GST, then decide the lowest price you will accept. Referral rates are listed by category on the pricing page, for example 13% for Home and Kitchen and 12% for Toys and Games, with no minimum or maximum fee. Fulfilment fees depend on size and weight, and items priced under A$13 pay a lower rate than items at A$13 or more.
Then choose the tool. A coupon is easy to switch off after the weekend. A permanent price cut is harder to reverse, because customers and competitors watch price history. A deal, if Seller Central offers one, is a fixed window with a fixed price.
Avoid three habits. Do not match every competitor price cut, because the cheapest offer is not always the one that wins the Buy Box (see how to win the Buy Box in Australia). Do not discount items that are about to run out. And do not discount a product with a rising defect rate, because extra orders will make the problem larger.
What should you measure afterwards?
Boxing Day results are easy to misread, because December and January behave very differently. Look at these in the first two weeks of January:
- Units and margin per ASIN, after fees and returns, not just revenue.
- Stock left and its age. Check which units are close to the 270-day line.
- Ad spend against sales for the sale week, using ACoS or TACoS.
- Returns and reasons. Repeated reasons usually point to a listing problem you can fix before the next event.
- Cash. Amazon pays only when the account is settled with a positive balance, and bank timing can take up to five business days after Amazon initiates payment.
Write the numbers down. When Amazon announces its 2027 events you will want your own record rather than memory.
FAQ
Does Amazon Australia have a Boxing Day sale? Amazon had not announced one on any public page as of 19 October 2026. Its publicly named events are Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days. Seller Central may show a promotion later. Check there.
When is Boxing Day 2026? Boxing Day falls on Saturday 26 December 2026. Retailers' sale periods often start before and run after that date, but Amazon has not published its own window.
Can I list a Boxing Day deal on Amazon Australia? If you have a Professional plan, you can create Lightning Deals and Best Deals, and set up coupons. Whether a deal can run on 26 December is decided by what Seller Central offers you.
Is storage more expensive in December? Yes. Standard-size storage is A$51.80 per cubic metre from October to December, excluding GST, then A$37.00 from January. Clearing slow stock before year end can reduce costs.
How do I handle January returns? Sellable items return to inventory, and unsellable ones are assessed for reimbursement. Keep an eye on the returns dashboard and on your cash, as refunds reduce the next settlement.
Is a Boxing Day discount worth it for FBA sellers? It depends on margin. Deduct referral fee, fulfilment fee, storage and GST from the discounted price. The FBA calculator guide shows how to do it per ASIN.
