Flipkart Ads Not Spending or Not Showing? Causes and Fixes (2026)

By Blooprint team ยท Published 25 September 2026 ยท 7 min read

Key takeaways

  • A Flipkart Smart ROI campaign with a target set too high will simply not spend, because the algorithm cannot find clicks that meet the target; lower it in steps.
  • Flipkart PLA ads serve only for live, in-stock listings, so an out-of-stock or blocked FSN stops delivery before any bid matters.
  • Third-party 2026 data puts most Flipkart CPCs between Rs 1 and Rs 5, rising to Rs 5 to Rs 10 in competitive categories during sale events.
  • Listing quality decides both whether Flipkart shows the ad and whether the click converts, so a thin listing is the usual reason an ad shows but does not sell.

Flipkart ads fail in a quieter way than Amazon ads. On Amazon the usual complaint is that the money went and nothing came back. On Flipkart it is that the money did not go at all: the campaign is live, the budget is loaded, and after three days spend reads Rs 40. This guide lists the causes we find most often on Flipkart PLA campaigns as of September 2026, split into "not spending" and "showing but not selling", with a fix for each. It assumes the basics from our Flipkart ads guide and the campaign-type detail in Smart ROI vs CPC campaigns.

A note on sources. Flipkart's ads platform at advertising.flipkart.com is a logged-in console and its public help material is thin, so where a mechanic is not documented by Flipkart we say so and rely on third-party 2026 guides we read and on the accounts we manage. Rupee figures are illustrations, not Flipkart benchmarks.

Why is my Flipkart Smart ROI campaign not spending?

A Smart ROI campaign asks you for a target return (revenue divided by ad spend) and lets Flipkart set bids to hit it. It runs on a total budget, not a daily one, and is available to sellers rather than vendors. The catch is described plainly in the third-party guides we read: if the ROI target is very high, the ads will not consume the budget, because the algorithm cannot find clicks it expects to convert at that return. A target of 15x on a product with a 3% conversion rate is a request Flipkart cannot fill, so it fills nothing.

Fix: work out what target your margins can afford first. If a Rs 999 product has Rs 250 of margin after Flipkart fees, break-even is a ROAS of 4 (Rs 999 / Rs 250); a target of 6x to 7x leaves profit. Third-party guidance suggests 7x to 8x as a starting target in moderately competitive categories and lowering from there. Reduce the target in steps of 10% to 15%, give each step three days, and stop when spend starts. Smart ROI also needs history: guides we read suggest it works best on products with 50 to 100 or more existing sales, so a new listing belongs in a CPC campaign until it has a track record.

Why is my Flipkart CPC campaign not spending?

Bids below the floor or the auction

PLA campaigns on cost per click need a bid per keyword or per product. Flipkart shows a suggested bid; if yours is well below it, you win few auctions and spend little. 2026 third-party data puts typical CPCs at Rs 1 to Rs 5 across most categories and Rs 5 to Rs 10 in home appliances, fitness and beauty during sale events. Fix: raise bids to the bottom of the suggested range for the top ten keywords and hold the rest; check impressions after 48 hours.

Keywords too narrow or the wrong ones

Ten exact keywords with little search volume produce little spend. Fix: add the category head terms in broad match at a lower bid to find volume, then harvest converting searches into exact. Our PLA vs PCA guide covers which format takes keywords at all.

Why is my Flipkart ad not showing at all?

The listing is out of stock, blocked or inactive

Ads serve only for live listings. An FSN that went out of stock, was blocked for a quality or policy reason, or was made inactive by a catalogue change drops out of every campaign, with no alert beyond the missing spend. Guides we read list running ads on out-of-stock inventory as one of the most common mistakes. Fix: Seller Hub, Listings, filter to inactive and blocked; restock or resolve, then check the campaign the next day. Our Flipkart account health guide covers listing blocks and their causes.

Low listing quality

Flipkart scores listings on completeness and content, and a thin listing both loses the auction and converts badly when it wins. Third-party guides describe the pre-advertising bar as seven or more images, a keyword-rich title, complete attributes and, ideally, 15 or more reviews, and note that a listing with 200 reviews, a 4.2 rating and seven images wins cheaper clicks than a thin competitor. Flipkart does not publish how its listing quality score feeds the ad auction, so treat this as observed behaviour. Fix: bring every advertised FSN to that bar before spending on it. If a listing cannot be brought there this month, pause its ads.

Campaign paused, ended, or the ads wallet is empty

Flipkart ads are funded from an ads balance; when it is empty, every campaign stops. Campaigns with an end date also stop quietly, and a paused ad group inside a live campaign is easy to miss. Fix: check ads balance first, then campaign and ad group status.

Why does my campaign spend for a few hours and then stop?

On a CPC campaign with a daily budget, spend stops when the budget is reached and resumes the next day. On sale days Flipkart traffic spikes early, so a Rs 500 budget can be gone by 10 am and the evening, which often converts best, gets nothing. A budget rule set for an event (for example, a cap during Big Billion Days) will also cap spend at whatever you told it to. Fix: if the campaign converts profitably, raise the daily budget; if it does not, lower bids so the same budget lasts the day. Third-party guidance puts the platform minimum at Rs 300 a day and a practical working budget at Rs 500 to Rs 600 per campaign to gather usable data in two weeks.

Worked example: a Rs 699 product

LineValue
Margin after Flipkart fees (see our fees guide)Rs 180
Break-even ROAS699 / 180 = 3.9x
Conversion rate on ad clicks4%
Maximum affordable CPC at break-evenRs 180 x 4% = Rs 7.20
Maximum CPC leaving Rs 60 profit per orderRs 120 x 4% = Rs 4.80
Daily budget for 100 clicksRs 480

If the suggested bid on the head keyword is Rs 9, this product cannot afford it at 4% conversion; the fix is conversion (listing) or a cheaper long-tail keyword, not a bigger budget. If conversion rises to 7%, the affordable CPC becomes Rs 8.40 and the same keyword works.

Why does my Flipkart ad show but not sell?

  • The page does not convert. Under about 4% on Flipkart, no bid pays. Images, size charts, honest specifications and the price against the category band decide this, not the campaign.
  • The ad is showing for the wrong searches. Broad keywords pull in searches that never convert. Fix: on PLA keyword campaigns, review search terms weekly and add non-converting ones as negatives; guides we read list skipping negatives as a top mistake.
  • The learning period was interrupted. Pausing and restarting during the first weeks resets what the campaign has learned. Give a campaign two to four weeks before judging it.
  • Attribution lag. Orders attach to clicks over several days; a campaign judged after 48 hours will look worse than it is.
Order of fixes: listing live and in stock, then listing quality, then ROI target or bid, then budget, then keywords. Changing the budget first on a campaign that cannot serve does nothing except make the next diagnosis harder.

Ads, listing quality and account health on Flipkart move together: a listing block stops the ad, a thin listing loses the auction, and a poor seller tier costs visibility that ads then have to buy back. That is why we handle them as one job in our marketplace ads management service rather than as a campaign in isolation.

FAQ

Why is my Flipkart Smart ROI campaign showing zero spend? The ROI target is above what the algorithm can deliver for that listing. Lower it in 10% to 15% steps every three days until spend starts, and check the listing has enough sales history for Smart ROI.

What is the minimum daily budget for Flipkart ads? Third-party guides put the platform minimum at Rs 300 a day; Rs 500 to Rs 600 per campaign is the practical minimum to gather usable data. Flipkart does not publish a fixed figure on its public pages.

Do Flipkart ads run for out-of-stock listings? No. An out-of-stock, blocked or inactive FSN drops out of the campaign until it is live again.

How much does a Flipkart ad click cost? Flipkart does not publish it. 2026 third-party data puts most clicks at Rs 1 to Rs 5, and Rs 5 to Rs 10 in competitive categories during sales.

Should I switch from Smart ROI to CPC if it is not spending? For a new listing with little sales history, yes: run CPC to build history, then move to Smart ROI. For an established listing, lower the target first.

Can I add negative keywords on Flipkart? On PLA keyword campaigns you can review search terms and exclude the ones that do not convert. Smart ROI campaigns hand targeting to Flipkart, so the lever there is the target and the listing.

Getting your Flipkart ads spending well

A Flipkart campaign that will not spend is usually one target set from hope rather than margin, or one listing that quietly went inactive. If you would rather have an ex-Flipkart team find it, fix it and then manage bids, targets, negatives and listing quality every week, see our marketplace ads management service. The diagnosis is free and comes in writing.
