InstaShop Partner Guide for UAE Shops and Brands: What to Prepare, What to Ask and What Is Not Published

By Blooprint team ยท Published 10 October 2026 ยท 6 min read

Key takeaways

  • InstaShop's own partner page returned an access error when we checked on 9 October 2026, so we cannot confirm its documents, fees or timeline and do not quote any.
  • A shop listing its own stock and a brand selling to the platform are different jobs. Decide which one you are before you apply.
  • Your catalogue is the product: barcodes, pack sizes, clear names and accurate stock decide whether an order is filled or substituted.
  • Ask in writing about commission, payment timing, substitutions and who handles returns. Compare the answers with talabat and Careem.

InstaShop does not give us a public document list, fee table or timeline we can quote. When we tried its UAE pages on 9 October 2026, the site returned an access error, so everything below that concerns InstaShop's own terms is a question to ask, not a fact. What we can give you is the preparation that every grocery-delivery buyer expects: a licensed business, registered products, a clean catalogue, accurate stock and a written list of terms.

Are you a shop or a brand?

InstaShop's partners are different kinds of business, and the route is different for each. We could not verify how InstaShop splits them, so use this as a self-check, not as InstaShop's rule.

You are You mainly need to prove Your main worry
A shop with its own stock and staff Licensed premises, reliable stock, packing speed Orders arriving for items you no longer have
A brand or manufacturer Registered products, supply reliability, price position Margin and returns on short-dated goods
A distributor Registration of the lines you carry, delivery capacity Who holds the product registration

If you are a brand, the steps in the talabat mart supplier guide and the Careem Quik supplier guide apply closely. If you are a restaurant, see the talabat partner registration guide for what a restaurant onboarding looks like on a different app.

Check this first. Before you fill in any partner form, ask the platform in writing which of the three routes you would fall under. The answer decides your documents, your margin and who invoices whom.

What should you have ready before you apply?

Start with the licensing and registration documents. These come from the authorities, not from the app.

  • Trade license that matches what you sell. If you are still choosing, see the UAE license overview.
  • Food approvals for food businesses. Dubai Municipality's food-safety page lists services including "Request for Layout Assessment for Food Establishment Licensing" and "Apply to Register and Assess a Food Item". The page gives titles only, with no fees. Other emirates have their own authorities.
  • Product registration for each food item where required, see the Dubai Municipality product registration guide.
  • A tax registration number if you are VAT-registered. The mandatory registration threshold is AED 375,000 and the voluntary threshold is AED 187,500, per the FTA page last updated 6 April 2026.
  • Owner identity documents and, if someone signs for you, a power of attorney. talabat's UAE partner page lists the same two items among its required documents. Expect any platform to ask for similar ones.

General information only, not tax or legal advice. Confirm with the FTA and your licensing authority.

What does a good InstaShop catalogue look like?

The platform sells from your catalogue, and a customer cannot see the product. We could not verify InstaShop's own image, naming or data standards, so ask for them. The following is good practice for any grocery app.

  1. One product, one record. Do not create five listings for the same item in different spellings.
  2. A barcode on every pack. If you do not have barcodes, read the GS1 barcode guide and the glossary entry on GTIN.
  3. Exact pack size and unit. "500 g", "6 x 200 ml", "pack of 12". Customers compare prices by size.
  4. Name first, brand second, size last in a consistent pattern.
  5. Real photos on a plain background. One front-of-pack image at least.
  6. Allergen and ingredient text copied from the label. Label rules are in the UAE food label requirements guide.
  7. Shelf-life information where the platform asks for it.

Product data of this kind is also what Amazon.ae and noon ask for, so the work is not wasted if you later add marketplaces.

How do you keep stock accurate?

For a shop, accurate stock is the difference between a good rating and a refund. We could not verify InstaShop's stock-sync options, so ask what it offers: manual updates, a spreadsheet upload, or a connection to your point-of-sale system.

  • Count your top 50 sellers weekly and update before peak times.
  • Mark items out of stock as soon as the last one is picked.
  • Agree how substitutions work. Can your picker replace an item, and does the customer approve?
  • Keep a buffer on fast movers so that two simultaneous orders do not collide.

For a brand selling to the platform, the matching measure is fill rate: the share of ordered units you deliver. Ask what level is expected and what happens if you fall short.

Which terms should you get in writing?

InstaShop's own terms are not published where we could read them, so every row here is a question.

Question Why it matters
What commission or margin applies, and to which price? Sets your net revenue per order
Who sets the shelf price? Affects your price on other channels
When and how often are you paid? Cash-flow planning
Who pays for substitutions, refunds and missing items? Decides how much a bad order costs
Are there listing, promotion or marketing fees? Often outside the headline commission
Who delivers: your staff or the platform's riders? Changes packing time and liability
How do you leave the arrangement? Notice period and any stock held

For a delivery comparison, talabat states on its partner page that delivery is limited to a 15-minute drive time from the business or shop and that first payment comes 45 days after go-live. Those are talabat's numbers for its own partners. They tell you what kind of detail to ask InstaShop for, not what InstaShop does.

What is a realistic way to test the channel?

Illustrative numbers only, not InstaShop terms. Suppose you run a shop with a basket of AED 85 and a platform takes a commission you have yet to learn. If you assume 20% for the arithmetic, you keep AED 68 before cost of goods and packing. If goods cost AED 50 and packing and labour cost AED 9, you keep AED 9 an order. At 25% commission you keep AED 4.75. Two things follow: you must know the true commission before launching, and small baskets only work if they are packed fast.

Run a four-week pilot with a limited range and a daily order cap, then compare real margin per order with what you assumed.

What if you also run a home or cloud kitchen?

Food prepared for sale needs its own approvals, and the rules differ for a delivery-only kitchen and for a home business. Read the cloud kitchen license guide and the home food guide first, because platform onboarding assumes those are settled.

FAQ

How do I become an InstaShop partner in the UAE? InstaShop's partner page was not accessible to us on 9 October 2026, so we cannot list its steps. Use InstaShop's own partner or business contact route, tell them whether you are a shop, brand or distributor, and ask for the document list and terms in writing.

What documents does InstaShop require? We could not verify an InstaShop document list. Expect a trade license, owner identification and, for food, municipality approvals, and confirm the exact list with InstaShop before you spend money on anything.

How much commission does InstaShop charge? We could not find a published rate. Any figure on a blog is unverified. Ask InstaShop for the percentage, what it applies to and every other charge, and keep the reply.

Can a brand sell on InstaShop without a shop? We could not verify how InstaShop treats brands without stores. Many grocery apps buy from brands and sell to customers themselves, but do not assume it. Ask InstaShop which model applies to you.

Do I need my own delivery riders? Not confirmed. InstaShop's delivery arrangement was not available to us. Ask whether the platform uses its own riders, yours, or either, because it changes your costs.

Do I need barcodes for InstaShop? We cannot say what InstaShop requires. Barcodes make catalogue matching and stock control far easier, and most buyers ask for them, so having them ready costs little. See the GS1 barcode guide.

How is InstaShop different from talabat mart? We cannot compare their terms because neither publishes supplier terms. What we can say is that talabat's consumer page promises about 20-minute delivery. Compare the two with the question table above.

What to do next

Decide whether you are a shop, a brand or a distributor, build the registration folder and a clean catalogue file, then contact InstaShop with the question table. Blooprint can prepare the same product data for Amazon.ae and noon through catalogue and listing optimisation. The UAE online business hub covers the wider set-up.
